The Opportunity

We're looking for a Project Cost Controller to keep our projects in financial check whilst helping develop our fledgling PMO, implementing your our processes in a rapidly evolving business.

The Role
As the Project Cost Controller you'll be our centrepoint, managing interactions between the project and finance teams to monitor and manage spend against ongoing projects.

You'll be responsible for cost control including raising POs, reconciling invoices, reviewing balance sheets and the P&L whilst tracking stock and liaising with Project Managers to check on the health of their assignments.

Owing to our rapid growth the company's systems are very manual at present so a lot of your work will be MS Excel-based and a big part of the role will involve developing processes as you go along to help you moving forward. This is going to be a challenge but also a great opportunity to mould your own system - all those great ideas you've had for continuous improvement within a PMO can finally be put to good use!

The Candidate
If you are an experienced Project Cost Controller we'd like to hear from you!

A background working in projects and an understanding of project management and the financial responsibilities associated with it are essential for this job, you'll really need to be able to hit the ground running with that. You're also going to have to be a whiz at cost control.

Any experience working in a telecoms or civil engineering environment would be a big advantage.

Our PMO office is really unstructured at the minute and it's going to take a special type of person to make this role their own. We're looking for a maverick who likes to make their own processes and enjoys working in a flexible environment where everyone mucks in to get the job done well. If you enjoy working to a process flow chart and knowing exactly what you're going to be doing each day this isn't the job for you.

There will be a small amount of (expensed) travel with the role so a full UK driving licence and your own transport is necessary.

The Company
The Project Office acts the as the hub for everything that goes on here so it is always bustling with people coming and going, all orchestrated by the Project Office Manager. You'll work closely with her, the Project Managers, Quantity Surveyor and Finance team to ensure the smooth running of all of our projects across the UK.

As a whole the company have come on in leaps and bounds in the past 2 years, growing from 15 to over 150 members of staff in this time plus securing a large investment from the City.
