Job Description

Bluefire Consulting are recruiting for an experienced PR Officer to join a busy PR Department based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Working in the waste management sector the main duties will involve:
* Helping design and implement high quality PR activities to deliver measureable results
* Providing a reactive press office function to deal with incoming media relation queries
* Taking lead responsibility for discrete projects to promote company projects and services
* Advising staff at all levels on media and communications issues
* Participating in out-of-hours duty to provide 24 hour response to the media
* Building key relationships with the media (national press, radio and television)
* Building relationships with third party groups
* Identifying and developing opportunities via key media and third party contacts
* Receiving and dealing with media calls and enquires on a prompt and efficient basis
* Developing communication plans for specific projects and launches
* Producing and distributing effective support materials in relevant timescales
* Writing press releases and preparing appropriate responses to media coverage
* Working closely with other internal departments to identify areas of opportunity and providing practical support
* Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of media coverage

Previous PR experience and working within a media environment either in a press office, PR agency or as a journalist is essential. The successful PR officer must be able to demonstrate experience of working with media or third parties to support press and communication campaigns and an understanding of press, broadcasting and social media methods. A degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification is required. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
