We're on the lookout for our new Commodity Manager to manage a team of Product Technicians and ensure the supply chain and service level agreements are delivered. We're looking for someone to maintain working relationships with key MOD contacts across a range of commoditised items and ensure the requirements are translated into product specifications and, where appropriate, alternative acceptable products that can optimise cost effectiveness and performance can be sought - no mean feat but we think you're up to the task!

The Role
As our new Commodity Manager you'll be:
*Managing the activity of a team of specialist Product Technicians, covering Oils and Greases, chemicals and other general supplies
*Establishing and building working relationships across the whole MOD/Ministry of Defence and understand customer requirements
*Ensuring requirements are understood and relating them to product specifications
*Obtaining approval of specifications prior to procurement activity
*Utilising MOD information systems and other inventory systems to ensure supply chain life management for new items is processed
*Managing and investigating product defect reports and any quality issues
*Seeing potential improvements and rationalisation of product ranges

The Candidate
If you have experience of commodity technical management, have experience of managing a team of product specialist and have great communication skills we'd like to hear from you!
The Commodity Manager role is the interface with internal and external partners in a fast-paced environment so the confidence to influence and negotiate with military customers is paramount.
A relevant technical related degree (or equivalent) would be seen as a big advantage for the Commodity Manager role and you will need to have experience in a related Commodity field.
Owing to the nature of the Commodity Manager position you will need excellent attention to detail and, to make sure you enjoy coming to work, an interest in supplier product solutions would be helpful.
