Job Title: Transport Planner/Scheduler
Location: Nr Barton, Cambridge
Salary: £25,000 plus benefits

The Role:
As the Transport Planner you will manage the fleet and third party contractors to arrange collection and delivery of raw materials for the company. Based within the Cambridge area, the main duties will include:
* Working as part of the transport team to arrange collection and delivery of raw materials purchased by the company
* Liaising with third party haulage contractors and working with company's own vehicles and drivers to ensure schedules are met
* Procurement of haulage from third parties not covered by internal fleet
* Negotiation of haulage rates with contractors to ensure best value haulage cost
* Ensuring all delivery orders are sent to hauliers within the required contractual deadline to ensure deliveries take place
* Sole responsibility for daily and weekly planning of work schedule when other staff members are on annual leave
* Liaising with suppliers to ensure efficient collection of product and provision of excellent customer service
* Informing logistics planning department of anything that will not be executed in accordance with instructions supplied
* Assisting in the management of company fleet


The Candidate:
Previous transport planning/logistics experience is required for this role. The successful Transport Planner must be able to demonstrate the ability to organise own workload effectively to deadlines and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. A background in negotiating pricing is preferred but not essential. Own transport is required due to location.
