We are currently looking to recruit an estimator, to work for a joinery contracting firm to the construction industry. The role offers up to 35k per annum, and will require experience working for a large organisation previously. Please note, this role is mainly office based and will rarely require client sites as the QS will undertake that aspect of the role

Working Duties Expected


The company's main area of work is as a joinery contractor to the construction industry, working on projects from educational facilities to healthcare and residential properties to large commercial buildings. The company also covers other areas of work when required such as partitioning, glazing, roofing, etc.

The right candidate will be involved with cost preparations and management through the lifecycle of the developments and will be able to develop a professional and lasting relationship with existing clients, along with establishing relationships with new clients to expand the company's potential contracts.

The role generally involves the preparation, processing and submission of tenders for contracts by calculating the costs involved in supplying a product and service to our clients technical specifications.

When making estimates they will take into account factors such as material costs, cost of operating or hiring plant or specialist equipment, transport costs, labour and other overheads and services, including profit. The right candidate will also build into their tenders, risk identification, projected timescales and allowances to cover contingencies. In putting tenders together, costs will be gathered from internal company records, quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors, and transport and hire companies.

Within the company, the right candidate will work closely with other professionals including the Commercial Director, Quantity Surveyors, Buyers, Construction Director and Construction Manager.

Hours and Environment

The hours of work are between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday.

The work is usually office-based but may occasionally be required to work on-site. Travel to client's offices may also be required, so a driving license would be beneficial but not essential.

Entry

Experience is essential for the right candidate; however qualifications in engineering, construction, building studies or surveying would be beneficial.
