The senior estimator position, offering up to 45k plus benefits is suitable for candidates with 5+ years estimating experience, within a civil engineering environment, who are looking to progress their career further.

To provide estimating services to the business streams

Requirements
Interfaces:

Internal: Tender Administration Team, Enquiries Team, Measurement QS team, Regional tender team
External: Suppliers, Subcontractors, Customers, Third Parties, as relevant

Responsibilities
- Undertake a full review of tender documents and from them produce a tender appraisal.
- Produce a programme for the tender where required.
- Attend the tender launch meeting
- Analyse the project to detail material and subcontract enquiries required.
- Ensure enquiries department are sending out the enquiries required.
- Price the bill of quantities by allocating labour, plant, materials and subcontract rates to bill items
- Defines temporary works requirements and agrees list with planner and then how and who will price the temporary works.
- Reviews disposal required and price it either on site or if offsite from a quote.
- Reviews material quotes and produces a spread sheet comparison.
- Review subcontract quotes, plug any missing or attendances required and produce a like for like subcontract spread sheet comparison.
- Meet with the planner reconcile labour and plant resources. Talk through programme with the planner and agree attendances required.
- Pull all the pricing into the standard tender book, with the standard reports.
- Keep notes of all assumptions and reasoning in pricing the tender.
- Attend the tender settlement meeting, be able to answer questions on the differences between prices in the material and subcontract comparisons.
- Carry out settlement adjustments

The Individual
- Good knowledge of the various forms of Conditions of Contract, (NEC, ICC, ICE, JCT)
- Working knowledge of the Methods of Measurement ( Highways, CESMM, SMM7)
- Proficient in the use of Excel and experience of using an estimating software.
- An ability to price work from first principles.
- Experience of pricing tenders in a full range of disciplines, roads, structures, heavy concrete works, public realm, flood alleviation and coastal protection.
- Highly organised and able to work on own initiative
