The opportunity:

Clerk of Works (Construction, Civil Engineering) required for our client who are one of the UK leaders in their particular sector. The Clerk of Works (Construction, Civil Engineering) role has come about due to massive expansion on their premises on at least 10 sites across the UK and joining there internal construction team.

The role:

For the Clerk of Works (Construction, Civil Engineering) this is as part of their numerous construction projects and to assist to deliver them. The first project is around a £2m project and the rest will be probably worth more in a team of 5.

Reporting to the Development Director, the Clerk of Works (Construction, Civil Engineering) will oversee the projects and among other duties will ensure the high quality of both materials and workmanship and report on all occurrences that are relevant to the project.

The Clerk of Works (Construction, Civil Engineering) will need to be on site and be vigilant with the inspections on a wide range of technical aspects of work.

Responsibilities will include:

*producing tender documentation that gives clarity of scope of work to contractors

*reviewing contractor references to ensure that they are competent and possessing relevant and up to date experience and expertise

*making sure that work is carried out to standards, specification, correct materials workmanship, and schedule

*becoming familiar with all the relevant drawings and written instructions, checking them, and using them as a reference when inspecting work

*making visual inspections

*taking measurements and samples on site to make sure that the work and the materials meet the specifications and quality standards


The Person:

For the Clerk of Works (Construction, Civil Engineering) you must have a strong construction and / or civil engineering background, you must have done a similar role in the past for a new build project (preferably industrial). Ideally, you would be ICWCI and CSCS. You will demonstrate:


*an attention to detail

*an in-depth knowledge of the construction industry

*a sound knowledge of Building Regulations

*good organisational and project management skills

For the Clerk of Works (Construction, Civil Engineering) the first project is commencing in the next 1-2 weeks and is to be in Kent. The rest of the projects will be over the 10 sites as they expand each one.

You will be given fuel card and car so there will be no expense to yourself. As the company are so established yet growing so rapidly, there are many opportunities for the successful applicant.
