Opportunity: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Birmingham

Salary: 35-40K + Car

We are currently recruiting a quantity surveyor for our client, based in Birmingham. The opportunity is offering a salary between 35-40k + company car/allowance. Ideal candidates will have experience working for a main contractor, or a large sub-contractor, and have experience within the construction arena. Any experience of architectural metalwork would be very desirable, however not essential. This fantastic opportunity offers candidates a relaxed working environment, and an opportunity to make the role their own, being able to utilise past experience to suggest ideas for the company also. The role will be 90% office based also, and will be working on a number of exciting projects up to the value of £4m.

Responsibilities
- Contract knowledge (JCT etc)
- Manage an average of 12 contracts ranging from 100k to 2m, duration of contracts range between 3 months to 18 months
- Generate monthly applications for payment
- Ensure main contractors provide monthly payment certificates/notifications within time
- Negotiate & agree monthly payment certificates/notifications
- Liaise with contract managers to identify what work is on site and or installed to generate monthly applications
- Liaise with contract managers and drawing office manager to track site instructions and include them on monthly applications
- Identify extra work not instructed and inform main contractor to ensure site instructions are in place
- Liaise with Estimating department to ensure correct rates are being applied for
- Negotiate off site material payments via vesting certificates etc
- Ensure substantiations for extra work are provided if requested
- Notify contractors of delay charges etc
- Dispute contra charge claims
- Negotiate & agree final accounts
- Track Sub-contractors (minimal)
- Ensure contract retentions are followed up & settled
- Contract dispute resolution
- Report to GM & MD
