Opportunity: Area Manager (Highways Maintenance)

Location: East Midlands

Salary: 35-40K + Car + benefits
We are currently looking for an area manager (route manager), for our global client, in which highways maintenance experience is essential. Ideally living within a 1 hour commute of Derby, we are looking to hear from candidates with experience managing an area of highways maintenance previously.

Specific responsibility for:
Winter Maintenance
Contingency Planning
Service Plan
HA and Connect Monthly Reporting
Quality Management

Responsibilities include:

Implementing the requirements of the Safety, Quality & Environmental Policy

Act as Assistant Management Safety Representative (AMSR).

The management of the network, defect identification (RMMS), inspections and surveys.

The overall responsibility for the collation of information and production of the monthly and annual reports.

Management of the authorised function responsibilities such as development control etc.

Manage the annual renewal programme, liaising with Connects Operations and pavement Managers.

Liaison with Operations Manager for implementation of Renewal Programme.

The coordination and development of additional works, improvements and renewal schemes.

Day to day liaison with Professional Services in support of Network Manager for specialist inspections and scheme design.

Managing response to third parties within the required timescales (e.g. HAILs, FOI)

Liaison with CDM Co-ordinator, including the identification of works which fall within the regulations and production of Health and Safety files.

Have overall responsibility for the quality system as Management Quality Representative (MQR).

Managing the contract audit programme and linking to Quality Manager and systems.

Overseeing the production and review of the contract plans and procedures.


Requirements
Competencies:

SMSTS 5 Day Course.
Winter Maintenance Decision Training.
CSCS.
Experience of Highway Maintenance.
Experience of Highway Design and Renewals.
Experience of coordination with Highway Authorities and other Public Bodies.
Experience of dealing with complaints/requests from the public.
Knowledge of cost/value.
Good Communication skills.
