You will be experienced of being in sole charge of a construction site on a live mixed use site (e.g. the construction works are running alongside the client's normal business, which creates the issue of continual liaison to keep the Client's site contact aware of the on-going works and how these will impact upon their operation e.g. deliveries etc.)


Job Description


We are looking for an experienced Site Manager for our client who are based in Essex. You will be experienced of being in sole charge of a construction site on a live mixed use site (e.g. the construction works are running alongside the client's normal business, which creates the issue of continual liaison to keep the Client's site contact aware of the on-going works and how these will impact upon their operation e.g. deliveries etc.)

This is a contract position that is expected to complete around Christmas 2010.

The project is to construct an extension to the existing building to create a new workshop (Motor cycle dealership) and thus you must have experience of groundworks (including piling, drainage alterations, re-inforced foundations and concrete floors, avoidance/detection of existing services), structural steelwork, cladding and roofing and minor internal fit-out works (e.g. 1st and 2nd fix electrics, decorations, specialist flooring, auto doors, specialist workshop equipment)

Essential:-

* 5 day CITB SMSTS Health and Safety certificate
* First Aid-trained (minimum 4 day course e.g. not approved person)
* To be capable of reading construction drawings and ensuring the works are completed in line with the requirements
* CSCS card holder


Main responsibilities:-

* Review and approval of H&S method statements and risk assessments (we have a series of checklists which must be completed before works can proceed)
* Co-ordinating works on-site in line with contract programme
* Completion of weekly/daily diaries - recording works completed and number of operatives on site etc.
* Completion of weekly H&S reports e.g. ensuring sub-contractors complete the requisite Plant certificates etc. and completing mcs safety review form
* Monitoring works on site to ensure works are completed according to requirements and meet accepted quality levels
* Maintaining good housekeeping and safety standards
* Liaison with sub-contractors to ensure programmes are maintained
* Resolution of any problems that may arise e.g. consultation with other building professionals e.g. structural engineer, architect etc. to agree alternative details
