We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Estimator / Cost Manager to work on a variety of construction projects for our client, a national leading construction organisation. This role offers an opportunity for an experienced estimator to come in with a clear progression for a market leader.

You will be working on a variety of projects across all market sectors and contract types across the North West including construction of schools, education, hotels, hospitals, residential etc. Typical valuations of these projects will be £20m - £100m so experience in high valuations is beneficial.

Responsibilities

-Manage the workload and allocation of Cost Management resource within assigned bid teams.
-Oversee and Interrogate design options and 'value' solutions, identifying the attractiveness of a project based on sound costing principles. Undertake the role of Cost Manager on large or complex projects where required.
-To review tender documents and submission requirements ensuring all financial information is identified and provided
-Establish and agree key plant rates
-Agree with engineering and planning key methods, outputs and plant selection
-Detailed analysis of subcontractors analysis
-Manage and coordinate the preparation of preliminary and general expense pricing including plant schedules
-Carry out any belated adjustments as a result of tender settlements
-Provide bills of allowances as part of the commercial handover meeting
-Responsibility for 'sign off' of all cost elements prior to any gate meetings or financial submissions
-Selecting suitable sub-contractors and specialists for each project
-Ensuring that key specialists are utilised on each bid to optimise: design, specification, programme and value
-Managing the production of cost information for senior management
-Provide considered responses to client questions including post tender queries
-Ensure that the project commercial team have received an effective handover of bid documentation
-Present tender proposals at client interviews
-Provide mentoring on bids to Cost Managers and the bid team
-Maintain the company supply chain database with tender information from allocated bids
-Preparation of prime cost estimates
-Provide estimating support in pre bid submissions/pre qualification documents


The Individual

-Individuals must have previous experience of costing major projects within the construction and engineering industry.
-Good working knowledge of costing and accounting methods is required. Professional membership with the RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE is desirable and a valid CSCS card is a requirement.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure.
-The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the Major Projects business. Proficiency in IT, numeracy and MS Office are essential.
-Ideally the candidate should be conversant with Causeway estimating software although training will be given to the successful candidate.
