Job Description

Quantity Surveyor
North London
£25-30k + Holidays, benefits, excellentdevelopment

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to come into a North London based construction company specialising in commercial / residential flats / apartment projects. Ideally with 1-2 years' experience within a QS or Assistant QS role you will now be looking to take the next step in your career and get exposure to working on high value projects (current projects are in the region of £2m-£10m). You will be working amongst a team of experienced QS's and will be able to draw on their industry experience and be an integral part of projects from cradle to grave.

Your out and out technical background as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS is not overly important as we are looking more for the enthusiasm and hunger to work on high value projects and draw on the knowledge and experience of those in the team to progress your career. Ideally you will have worked for a main contractor and touched on residential projects although perhaps you have come from a PLC environment and worked on more civils based projects, highways, rail etc. Either way, if you have the right attitude and eagerness to work in a hands on role and be a key player on each project, then we would like to hear from you.
This offers opportunity to come in at a Junior QS level, where there is room for progression as the company is already established and growing year on year, which committed to the growth and development of its employees.

The role

You will be working on multiple projects across the North London and City of London region, focusing on 1 or 2 projects at a time to gain exposure of high value £2m-£10m builds. What sets this role apart from others is you will be a key player to the QS team and will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of projects. On the upcoming and exciting residential builds you will have exposure of taking clients through every step of their project, from inception and planning, through procurement and construction.. Coming into the role your first challenge will be to working on a multi-million pound residential block of apartments.
Typical projects you can expect to work on are construction and property development of for example, apartment blocks, commercial offices and commercial to residential conversions.

The Candidate

For the Quantity Surveyor role you will have had some exposure of working in a main contractor environment with ideally residential experience although this is not as important as your attitude and personality as we would be keen to hear from those with civils (rail, highways, etc) experience also.
You will be working with JCT forms of contracts, so if you are familiar with this style of contract it would be beneficial although experience of using other contracts, e.g NEC would be fine. You will ideally be either HND/HNC/degree qualified and have 1-2 years post university experience within a QS or Assistant QS role.
You will be liaising directly with both external stakeholders as well as the senior members of the internal board so good communication and team player skills are essential as is the ability to work on your own initiative as this role offers a high level of responsibility.

The Company

The Quantity Surveyor will work for an already established and growing company with their head office in North London.
With a multi-million pound annual turnover the company has been responsible for the delivery of multiple high value projects both inside and around the city centre, with a busy and exciting forecast for the next few years.

The Quantity Surveyor role is to be based in North London with approximately 50:50 time split between office and site. The role comes with a salary of £25-30k + Holidays, benefits, excellent career / development. This is a starting package bear in mind.
