Job Description

Production Manager
£33-35k
Monday - Friday
Based in Bristol

The Opportunity

A great opportunity to join an expanding manufacturing business which has been going over 50 years and is part of a group with 10 plants across Europe. A well respected business with a large portfolio of products, which now requires a Production Manager/leader to join the team in Bristol and help drive the business forwards. This is a multi-million pound turnover site, with an impending retirement leaving an opportunity where the incoming individual will have a real opportunity to affect change and achieve quick wins and develop a longer term strategy for the team.

The Role

You'll oversee a team directly of 3 Supervisors, who cover the following areas, Production, Quality & Process and Engineering. Underneath each of them they have teams of operatives, finishers and assemblers and warehousing etc. This amounts up to around 25 people indirectly on the shop floor and 3 directs. You'll report into the Uk Director so will be pretty senior on site and will integrate with the sales team, production planners, purchasing and technical teams to run your department.
The main challenge of the role is that there is no current individual spending his entire time doing this role, it's covered by the UK Director David and the soon to be Uk Director Nick. Neither of these have enough time to fully deliver on the role, so this new position will free them up to focus solely on their roles and the incoming candidate will have full control over production.

Currently the process, is divided up into sections depending on which machines are producing which products, they have around 15/20 production machines, an assembly area, a quality area, a large warehousing area and then the offices for the support teams. The incoming individual will have experience working in an assembly/manufacturing/production environment which utilises metal fabrication or assembly. The products and process aren't technical but there is a very large product catalogue and fast turnaround times, so organisation and process is very key.

Responsibilities

*Assess, manage and implement human, material and equipment resources to deliver an effective production plan to meet company objectives and customer requirements.
*Develop management team, production plant and processes to deliver continuous improvement and improved customer service.
*Ensure company quality standards and ISO 9001 -2015.
*Ensure they meet or exceed national health and safety laws.
*Ensure all appropriate records are maintained.
*Review performance and develop a training programme for all reports.
*Prepare and maintain production reports and review cost of production to ensure it is cost effective.
*Set and manage production budgets and plant/machinery development programme.
*Establish and implement operating procedures and standards.
*Ensure an effective maintenance programme is in place for plant, machinery and site services.
*
The Candidate

If you have worked as a production manager, or leader, within a decent size SME and want to join a stable multimillion pound business with recent and planned capital investments in the machinery, training, the overall factory then this company might be for you. If you are keen to influence and bring positive change while managing and developing the experienced team around you, then you may be the kind of individual we are looking for. You might be looking for a chance to step up, or another role where you will have the resources and opportunity to run an experienced team in a successful business that you can really influence.
