Job Description

Automation Engineer (Rockwell)

£30 - 35 per hour - 6 Month Contract Limited - 35 hours per week

The Opportunity

Our client is a FTSE 100 manufacturer working within the medical device industry, with multiple worldwide production facilities. The company culture is one that heavily utilizes the Continuous Improvement model and requires an Automation Engineer to come in and support and improve the sites Rockwell Automation software across a number of production lines. You'll report into their Automation Lead and will work both out on the production shop floor and in the office. They are currently undertaking an exciting period of multi-million pound production line investment for the business at their site just outside Chester involving the opening of 9 new production lines which has created this opening, to help get things up and running.

The site contains around 450 employees and are currently in the process of adding a number of new production lines taking them from 33 to 42 lines by the end of June to allow them to increase the number of new products the site can manufacture, to meet global demand, meaning it's a great time to join the company, add value and really make a difference on your given project.

The Role

You'll come with hands on PLC design/development experience within a manufacturing environment. You're aim will be to help improve machine performance across the site to deliver associated cost savings and raise production productivity. You'll have a proven track record working on a contract basis providing improvements to automation software through Rockwell Automation Software (RSLogix500, Control Logix 5000). If you have done this within a background of batch manufacture, mixing or extrusion that would be a benefit for this role.

You will be used to having to hit the ground running with developing improvements in a fast paced production environment, preferably from Medical Devices, Pharmaceutical, FMCG or Food.

Last year the company introduced production of 22 new products to this site alone and you'll be overseeing the development of new automation software design and modifications to existing software to a number of new product rollouts yourself during your contract.

Qualifications/Experience

Automation Engineering Qualification/PLC Programming Qualification or Equivalent
Rockwell Automation Software Design and Modification
RS Logix500, Control Logix 5000 experience

The Package

This role is paying:
£30 - 35 per hour - 6 Month Contract Limited (Contract ends 31st October 2017) - 35 hours per week - Monday - Friday
