The Opportunity

Our client are the UK's leading Medical Products Manufacturers and have recently made their way into the FTSE 100 due to the success and growth of the business. They manufacture products that truly make a difference and are sold to over 100 countries health organizations across the world. Their site based just outside Chester is their flagship manufacturing unit with over 500 employees and looks after everything from R&D and patenting of all of their products through to mass manufacture. We are currently looking for an engineer to help support their team working across many of their 33 production lines.

Over the past 18 months in particular the company have had unprecedented successes, they currently have a huge investment on site to add 9 further production lines and increase their capacity further still, to allow them to manufacture even more different products. I have now worked with this company a while and have numerous success stories of progression, training and development for all new and existing employees. Meaning if you want to come and make a difference, this might well be the best role for you.

The Role

The role is very hands on, with the production team hands on, to deliver against challenging production targets, you'll handle all of the hands on engineering, with a mixture of mechanical and electrical faults, ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum and uptime at a maximum. You're role will be to work hands on alongside the Operations team on the line during periods where its quiet, but naturally spring into action to complete reactive, or planned maintenance, fault finding, changeovers, tests and also work on process and system improvement projects across the lines. This is a state of the art production facility, where the products you make truly make a big difference to the customers they are sold into, so naturally there will be a lot of learning to be done, but essentially you'll still be working with fast moving production equipment, so it's: motors, conveyors, E-stops, sensors, bearings, shafts, rollers, but also on the more advanced side exposure to PLC's and HMI fault finding.

I can truly say you'll get the chance to progress within the company and develop your understanding of Lean, Six Sigma and kaizen ideologies, natural progression is in the form of leadership based roles or a move into their dedicated continuous improvement department as a senior process engineer. You'll get to integrate your knowledge with the senior CI Black Belts and be part of smaller project based teams on small and medium sized projects as the company as they are always striving to improve.
The Candidate

First of all you will preferably be a maintenance engineer/technician from a fast moving manufacturing environment. The industry is now that important, as long as it's fast moving and requires you to be hands on fixing/improving the line. You will also harbor a desire to work for a stable company with a family feel and receive quality training and add value. You'll come with mechanical or electrical or both skills with the certificates to prove this. You'll be clued up on analyzing technical issues with production lines and equipment and come up with new ideas, and seek to change processes and procedures within this environment.

You'll understand that this role is hands-on, working on the production line, meaning when engineering is quiet, rather than just sit in an engineering department you'll muck in and help the machine operators on your line and neighboring lines if required. The aim of this is to get the maximum efficiency out of everyone on site, which was something they didn't utilize in the past. You'll seek progression and want to join a company where you can really develop your CV and career long term with the right attitude, with training and qualifications/courses that they will send you on or put you through. This is a hugely exciting time for the company with a huge multimillion pound investment and pressures to produce more products than ever before, so if this motivates you please feel free to apply.

An employee who works for this business already mentioned the following "I came to this company from a good role in the Aeronautical Industry but wanted to join a company with transparent progression and where I can make a real difference. I have found at this company that I have that opportunity and get to witness it every month, we have customers visit our site and thank us for the good work we are doing, that motivates us all to continue working hard"

Qualifications

Experience working in past paced manufacturing/production environment
Electrical/Mechanical/Engineering or equivalent qualifications

The Package

This role has a salary of £30 - 35k
