Shift Manager/Team Manager/Production Manager/Operations Manager (Manufacturing - Nightshift)

£35k Basic + 19.25% Shift Allowance (£6.7k per year) meaning total is circa £42k, Excellent Pension, 25days Holiday, Bonus up to 7%, Death in Service, Healthcare, Subsidized Canteen

Based: Chester

This role is Monday to Friday on permanent night shift. The hours are as follows Mon - Thurs - 9.55pm : 5.55am and Friday 3.55pm : 9pm

All nights based work received a 19.25% shift allowance totaling around £5 - 6.7k per year on top of your basic salary.

The Opportunity

Our client are a FTSE 100 manufacturer, with multiple worldwide production facilities. The company culture is one that heavily utilizes the Continuous Improvement model and has recently had the opportunity open up for a Shift Leader to oversee around 50 indirect reports on their night shift. You will assist with an exciting period of multi-million pound investment for the business at their site just outside Chester. The company are a keen advocate of employee engagement and Kaizen CI processes to work as a collective to develop new and existing products and processes that change the lives of their customers in over 100 countries.

The site contains around 450 employees and have just undertaken a major restructure to help them meet new targets and satisfy existing production requirements and take on further production lines and capacity. This company are currently in the process of adding a number of new production lines to allow them to increase the number of new products the site can manufacture, to meet global demand, meaning it's a great time to join the company, add value and really make a difference.

The Role

You'll be working managing around 12-15 direct reports, who themselves will have their own reports across the site, meaning indirectly you will have around 50 people underneath you. You're aim is to communicate the strategy/vision of the business across your shift, covering responsibility for the following: Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning, CI, Quality and also a broader responsibility for Supply Chain, Quality, HR, Finance, IT and EHS.

With this being a manufacturing environment you'll ensure production targets and quality levels are kept to a right first time basis. You'll naturally be quite CI (continuous improvement) focused and will naturally see areas for improvement in your department that can help the business moving forwards.

You'll be given the responsibility to work alongside the Unit Manager Rob on budgets, production standards, performance and customer service levels. You'll naturally be a leader and someone able to influence people and give advice and develop those underneath you.

You will ensure you have regular discussion with the team on risk, safety, and workplace inspections to keep high standards. You will also handle any HR issues.

The Candidate

First of all you will have a desire to work for a FTSE 100 company with a family feel and add value. You'll come with natural leadership skills within a production or manufacturing environment, this can be from FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Medical, Automotive or other associated industries.

You'll understand that this role means you'll process owners (team leaders) and engineers who are very hands on, working on the production line. You'll oversee a number of lines and production units on shift and get involved in the development of the new lines due to be installed and running by the midpoint of the year.

Qualifications

Educated to Degree Level or Equivalent
Understanding of 5's, Kaizen or Lean
Understanding of Six Sigma and a Green belt would be a benefit

The Package

£35k Basic + 19.25% Shift Allowance (£6.7k per year) meaning total salary is circa £42k,
