BMS support engineer (Andover Continuum)


South East (Home based)

The role
We are looking to recruit an experienced BMS support engineer to work in the building services group of this market leading company. Field based position covering London (85%) and the South East of England.

Working with existing customers, you will focus on the support of TAC Vista BMS systems. You will be servicing and repairing these systems anything from a couple of times a month to a single time in any year.

Due to this, we would assume that you are an experienced BMS engineer, with a detailed control system support & service background. Knowledge TAC Vista is a priority although we may consider engineers with knowledge of other control systems.

This group provides services linked to integrated energy reduction and security solutions, mainly within the local authority, health and educational sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1). Carry out maintenance works and support works on customers sites.

2). Diagnose and repair faults.

3). Carry out modifications to system software and user interface graphical displays.

4). Advise the customers on ways in which energy consumption and cost can be reduced.

5). Provide field quotations for customers for repairs and improvement opportunities, and ensure efficient turnaround of quotes and completion of work.

6). Complete accurate reports of each visit, detailing all work carried out, dates and times of attendance and other recommendations and observations appropriate to the scope of each visit. Ensure that a copy of the report is presented to the clients at the end of the visit.

7). Be available to join an out-of-hours call-out rota.

8). Ensure issued instruments and tools are in working condition; report any losses or breakages to Regional office in compliance with Health and Safety procedures. Maintain calibration of test equipment.

9). Keep in regular contact with customers as well as the Support Administration and planning team.

The candidate

We are looking for an ONC or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Part 3 "C" Cert. City & Guilds in Electrical Installations and previous experience and success in a similar support role. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in BMS / HVAC controls industry and experience working as an electrician in commercial or industrial applications rather than domestic markets.

You will have an understanding of HVAC and Building Services Applications, the ability to apply engineering principles to test, to maintain, to modify or to install utilising best practices and the ability to upgrade or to revamp equipment to become compliant with customer request or industry regulation.

You will be expected to join the on call rota, for one in 8 weeks but this will result in generous additional payments and overtime rates. There is also an incentive scheme that will trigger additional profit share payments for any customer up sells or cross sells that you are responsible for.
