The Opportunity

This is a challenging opportunity to join an organisation which is experiencing some significant growth. The main challenge will be to manage, develop and streamline the company's contract systems, from order to invoice, as well as lead a small team of fitters and sub contractors.

The Role

Your key responsibility will be to streamline the current contract process from order to invoice to make sure that it is as smooth and efficient as possible. Previous experience with construction contracts and managing field teams would be warmly received.
You will be involved with negotiations with clients and follow up calls and meetings to ensure that they are more than satisfied with the results of their installations and to ensure the company are able to generate repeat business. You will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of projects from initial surveys, deliveries of stock to installation and invoice. The role of the contracts manager will involve managing 5 well trained engineers and a number of administrators and subcontractors. The fitters install a variety of blinds, curtains, window films and outdoor shading. You will be responsible for leading and motivating the work force to ensure that the employees You will complete appraisals of engineers on a regular basis so each member of the team understands what is expected from them and on occasions take a prominent role in any disciplinary or grievance procedures.
You will be responsible for reviewing action plans for projects prior to the commencement of work and will be expected that agreed client targets are met and exceeded. You will keep in close contact with engineers to understand how projects are progressing and provide leadership and guidance when problems and delays occur. You will play a leading role in ensuring H&S compilation and checking of RAMS, issue and attendance of TBTs, audit of site safety standards. The role will require you to take a lead in recruitment of new engineers as expansion is expected.

The candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will be a contracts/operations manager who has been involved with the blinds/ construction industry and understands the do's and don'ts of contracts. Ideally you may have some formal qualifications in project management or contract law although relevant work experience in either of these areas is what the client is really looking for.
You will need to be a positive, proactive leader of the team that can set up, develop and manage fitting teams, construction projects and clients competently. As a manager you will need to take ownership for your team and drive performance. We are looking for managers with integrity, a strong work ethic who are professional at all times.
Previous experience managing sub-contractors would be a definite plus, as would any experiences or qualifications in H&S.
SSSTS, CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, CRB certification
Full driving license & able to travel
Past experience with construction sites and main contractors
IT literate
Prepared to put in overtime at start and end of days when needed
On call with occasional weekend works
Full driving license & able to travel
Knowledge of Health and Safety Law, payment processes, working at height regulations, electrics, You will also be expected to undergo detailed training on specific substrates, fixing details, blinds types and their variants, motorization, and various aspects of working with contractors.
