Job Description

Role: Field Service Engineer (Electrical Switchgear)
Location: Scotland Central Belt (Lanarkshire, Glasgow, East Kilbride, Edinburgh)
Package: Circa £28,000 - £32,000 plus on call, OT, bonus, pension, private health, vehicle, 25 days holiday.

The Opportunity

Are you interested in an opportunity for a long term career with one of the world's largest companies and a leader within the Electrical Industry as both a designer and manufacturer? Our client are forward thinking, and voted in the top 25 companies to work for worldwide. If you have an electrical background installing switchgear/transformers (44v-132kv) into brand new substations across the Scottish Central Belt.

The Role

We are looking for a couple of electrically biased engineers to join part of the Field engineering team to be based in the Scottish Central Belt. You'll be tasked with installing our clients own switchgear and transformers into these new substations on the client site.

Voltages wise, you'll have had some exposure in the past between 400v - 132kv, but it's not essential that you have covered this entire voltage range. As this is new install there won't be a lot of maintenance and fault finding unless something goes wrong, it's all brand new kit.

You`ll present a professional & efficient image to customers and will be providing technical support to internal and external customers when asked.

Ideal location will be Central Belt and majority of work is in that area but you`ll need to be flexible regarding joining the team to cover the entire Scottish region on the odd occasion.

All in with this opportunity, bonus, OT, on call and salary you'll be looking to earn around £40k in your first year as a cautious estimate.

The Progression

Our client look to invest the best part of 30-50k in every new employee over your initial and ongoing training periods with them. Some of the training may take place in Europe and also in other areas in the UK for at least the first 3 months so you'll need to be comfortable with a little travel to begin with.

This will all be paid for and you'll be put up in nice hotels, while this training takes place, not to mention how it will look in terms of qualifications gained on your CV.

Long term the plan is to get you up to AP (Authorised Person) level which again sees you a decent increase in pay and responsibility. This won't happen overnight but is being put out there right at the start of your journey, so sets expectations on long term opportunities which are notoriously great with this client.

Responsibilities:

-Installation and testing of Low and Medium Voltage electrical distribution equipment (Switchgear and transformers).
-Pre visits to assess access requirements.
-Assist in preparation of bills of material.
-Control of Sub contractors when required.
-Provide out of hours support on a rota basis.
-Create and issue test documentation and reports.
-Support the commercial colleagues as required.
-Good practical Electrical and Mechanical skills
-The ability and confidence to work alone on own initiative
-Driving licence.

The Company:

Global leader in energy management solutions present in over 100 countries and a top 25 employer to work for worldwide. A company with a number one interest in the employee and their professional development through their own training schools. A chance for someone looking for a career rather than just their next job, if you think this is you then you'll be amazing by the long term possibilities with this client.
