The role

In this role you will have responsibility for the state of the art high quality print division. You will be expected to become technically proficient in regards to the print machinery but there is a settling in period to allow
The role will require you to manage a small team of technicians as well as acting as a lead function in educating the sales team on what are realistic and achievable orders to process. You will be a key player in customer interactions and also take responsibility for dealing with suppliers to ensure that our client receives the highest levels of service and value for supplies.

#Co-operate in drawing up the strategic print plan for the plant with the Plant Manager.
#Assist in defining the necessary action plans in order to achieve the results and objectives
#Supervise its implementation and establish corrective actions if needed
#Interface with brand managers, customer graphic houses regarding repro and suggest alternatives within the machines capabilities
#Oversee and ensure the printing processes are maintained (administration and machine)
#Ensure there are sufficient print skills with the plant in line with market needs
#Control of key suppliers
#To lead improvements in productivity, cost reduction and technical capability
#Instruct crews and be capable of increasing their print skills in line with market needs
#To learn the machines control system to a level where you are recognised as leading the problem solving team
#Ensure effective customer relations
A level of experience and understanding of Flexo water based print would be an advantage but by no means is essential. Colour management knowledge Expertise in the latest plate making technology (HD, FTD). Knowledge of available print substrates available and their limitations would also be seen as an asset.

The candidate

We are looking for a manager with a degree of technical knowledge ideally within a manufacturing print or packaging background. Ideally you will be educated to degree level in an engineering discipline or have equivalent experience.
You may have previously worked in operations, engineering or production for a forward thinking company and so have had exposure to lean manufacturing techniques such as six sigma, 5's or Kaizen. We are looking for managers who have a level of commercial awareness and ideally have some exposure to this nature of the business or at least have a strong appetite to embrace a sales/customer facing environment.
Candidates will need to be process driven and have experience of mapping out processes to ensure both quality and cost control is considered. Candidates will be expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate using different methods to a variety of different people from senior management to technicians. You should enjoy the challenges of management and be able to help your direct reports to develop reach their potential.
