The Opportunity

This is an ideal opportunity for a Production Manager/Team Leader/Supervisor to join a successful steel fabrication company who specialise in high-quality architectural metalwork in the South. The Role

The Production Manager will take responsibility for a number of operations across the site, looking after between 20-30 people on the shop floor.
The main task of this role will be to lead the team to achieve, or exceed agreed outputs in areas such as efficiency, costs, waste, productivity, safety, quality, morale and customer service. The successful candidate will provide clear direction, encouragement and support to team members, develop team working ethics and ensure adherence to performance management standards.

The Production Managers will be responsible for H&S, security, quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness requirements. It will also be the responsibility of the Production Manager to monitor the volume and quality of output and adjust tasks, timing, equipment set-up, or inputs so that production specifications are met and resources are used efficiently.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be somebody who has had experience leadership experience within a metal fabrication company. However, we also consider people from other relevant backgrounds.
We are looking for candidates who have good leadership qualities and excellent communication skills. Applicants will need to have very good people management/leadership skills and be able to demonstrate how they have previously influenced and guided teams to achieve above average performance on a consistent basis.
The Production Manager must be able to drive the performance of their teams, by developing an open and trusting environment that leads to a strong working ethic among team members. We are looking for candidates that can motivate their teams and encourage urgency at times of need. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable taking a hands on approach when needed to drive performance and meet targets.
We would be very keen to speak with any candidates who come from a lean manufacturing/process improvement background so anyone who has experience of Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, Lean, TPM, TQM or any quality standards such as ISO 9001 would be warmly received.
Candidates will need to open to learning new processes and procedures and once these have been embraced, encourage and ensure that they are adhered to by fellow team members.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years' worth of experience working in a manufacturing environment who enjoys the challenges of a fast paced operational role. Suitable candidates will have previously worked as either a Team Leader, Supervisor, Production/Shift Manager in a forward thinking fabrication environment. The Production Managers will need to continually assess the areas of the plant they are responsible for and be confident in suggesting improvements to increase productivity and efficiency. Candidates should be comfortable completing disciplinary' s and appraisals when necessary, and above all have the development of their team at the forefront of their thinking at all times.
Suitable candidates will need to demonstrate a certain amount of technical knowledge and business acumen, and should be able to adjust quickly to a changing environment to ensure quality and production deadlines are met.

Our client have been designing, manufacturing and installing high quality architectural metalwork for prestigious building developments in Southern England and the Home Counties for over 60 Years. They are looking for a candidate who has the aspiration to progress their carer and potentially become a key figure within the company.

Working Hours

Mon-Fri- 7:30am-5:30pm

The Package

£30-£40k +4% Annual Bonus
