The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our client, based on the Isle of Wight. You will join the company who manufacture high quality load pins and components for a world-wide customer base. Joining an experienced team, you will be developed into the lead machinist and eventually be responsible for leading the Machine shop as the business develops over the next 3 years. This long established and financially secure company is experiencing year on year growth and is committed to the development, growth and progression of its employees.


The Role

This is a permanent position for an experienced machinist to, over time develop into a lead machinist, managing the machine shop as the company develops and grows over the next 3 years. You will operate both lathe and milling machinery to manufacture load cells and load pins from stainless steel as well as other ancillary parts from steel and aluminium to a high specification.

You will be Responsible for setting and operating you will complete machining, milling, turning and drilling to tolerances as low as 0.02m

Other key tasks involved on a daily basis would include:

*Creating CNC Machining Programmes for new parts.
*Set up production parts for machining.
*Assist the Machining Supervisor in the supervision and training of operators.
*Deputise for the Machining Supervisor in his absence.
*Performing 1st off inspections when machining operations are set for production and ensure that results are recorded on the computer system.


Knowledge and Skills:

You will have extensive experience in CNC Machining, milling, turning and drilling various grades of stainless steel. You will need to be able to use standard verniers and micrometers for the manual measurement of equipment and be able to operate to tolerances as low as 0.02m.

Working as part of a small flexible team, you will be highly organised, quality driven and flexible enough to meet the changing needs of the business.

You must have the ability to read and understand technical drawings (e.g. CAD) and be able to quality check and measure your own work. Although not essential you will have some team-leading experience.

The package

Permanent, full time, £25,000-£32,500 + Extensive benefits including Pension and 25 days holiday + bank holidays, overtime. Working 37.5 hours per week with the opportunity for flexible working hours (around the core hours of 8-4) as well as overtime available.
