Opportunity

Would you like to work for one of the UK's most well-known high street retailers who have been going nearly 35 years? We're looking for a facilities engineer to look after the company's flagship stores based in central London including the HQ. Do you have a desire to plan your own diary and be in control of your own day? Can you deal with customers face to face and think on your feet in a facilities environment. Are you strong electrically with a 17th edition and have a good array of other maintenance skills, and want abit of variety to your day? We're looking for a customer focussed electrical/facilities engineer who wants to join a company where you will be treated like a person and not just a number. You'll be given between 10/20 stores that you'll personally handle the majority of the maintenance for. You'll manage the PPM's, reactive maintenance and repair, and look after small projects with external contractors. You'll be given the freedom to work a flexible day, coming in early or late depending on what's required by the role. You'll travel around central London on fully expensed public transport working in areas like Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square, both north and south of the river. Work on the outskirts of London will be supported by other engineers who are based closer to site.

The Role

If you enjoy managing facilities and making them your own, then this might be a role for you. You'll report into a regional supervisor, but a lot of how you manage your facilities will be up to yourself. You'll cover, electrical maintenance, planned and reactive, general building maintenance duties, PAT testing, emergency light testing, basic hvac, fire alarm testing, building condition surveys and also manage small works projects with external contractors, possibly on multiple sites at various parts of the day. If you have a background in commercial electrical, centred around field based or facilities based work, I'd like to hear from you.

You'll work standard hours of 8-5pm, and will travel from home to site being paid from the moment you leave the house until the moment you get home (door to door). There will be occasions where your day will start earlier and finish earlier and days when it will start later and finish later, flexibility is key depending on what is going on within your sites.

This is a new role for the business, as they have recently brought all of their facilities function in house after contracting it out for a number of years, so this is a stable role and a chance to make the position your own. They are very open to ideas and it's a very relaxed non pressurised environment the majority of the time.

The Candidate

Do you have electrical experience ideally with a 17th edition qualification, with a desire to work in a facilities based environment? You'll travel from home to site and will be comfortable working in potentially more than one location in the day. You'll be used to meeting and greeting customers and contractors. This role suits an individual who can manage their time and diary well. This is a decent sized well respected retail outlet who have over 200 stores nationwide, you'll receive good benefits, you'll be paid door to door and there will be plenty variety in your day. You'll also be given the privilege of overseeing the company's flagship store which falls in your area.

Are you looking for a role where you will be home every night and work close to your home address, you'll have all of your travel expenses on the tube, boris bike or bus paid, and you won't be required to cart heavy tools around as they will have a set for you on each site. You'll work 40 hours per week and any further hours are paid at overtime rates. You'll work towards performance based bonuses and will liaise with the service desk to manage your workload.

On some days you may travel to 5 sites, on others you may stay at 1, this is a flexible role depending on what issues come up in your region.

The Package

Basic Salary £34k
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm standard 40 hours per week (a degree of flexibility is required)
Overtime paid after 40 hours at 1.5x (Could be worth 5-7k per year estimated)
