Facilities Maintenance Technician
Based in Manchester
Paying up to £20,400 plus benefits

The Role
The Facilities Maintenance Technician role will be responsible for a site that covers over seven acres and comprises five listed buildings. The Facilities Maintenance Technician role is responsible for the daily operation, planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance of the building management systems and all other facilities plant equipment. The post holder will work 5 days out of 7 on a rolling roster including regular weekends, Bank Holidays and evenings, to reflect the 7-day visitor operation.

Key Deliverables/Accountabilities
The Facilities Maintenance Technician role will be responsible for;

*Responsibility for all of the building management systems and other facilities plant equipment.
*Responsible for undertaking planned and preventative maintenance for all of the facilities plant equipment
*Responsible for reactive maintenance: accurate diagnosis of faults and facilitation of rapid repair within agreed timescales so the facilities are always maintained to a consistently high standard.
*Ensure legislative and regulatory compliance in all work undertaken.
*Provide specific subject matter expertise to the Masterplanning process
*Provide support for emergency FM maintenance when requested to ensure repairs are carried out as quickly and as safely as possible.
*Assist in the identification and support procurement of any specialist contractors required to assist with the maintenance of the buildings, including arranging site inspections, and working alongside them.
*Complete job tracking records to enable the production of management information to monitor the performance of equipment.
*To place orders for and monitor the use of repair and replacement materials and components in line with the museum's financial procedures.
*Support provision of suitable office accommodation for all staff and volunteers.
*To work with and support the Estates Maintenance Technician to maintain the heritage buildings and structures.
*Provide excellent customer service, answering all visitor queries in a polite and helpful manner and offering similar levels of service and professionalism to staff and volunteers.
*Any other duties as required to assist the Estates team and support the building objectives.

Line Management and Budget Responsibility
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will;
Directly line manages a team of 5.
Indirectly line manages: supervision of volunteers as required
Contractors: management of contractors when on-site
Budget Holder: responsible for all team staff and non-staff budgets
Responsible for budgets up to £1m.

The Candidate
The ideal Facilities Maintenance Technician will have;

*Experience of maintaining facilities plant and equipment to a high standard and meeting all health and safety requirements
*Experience of planned preventative maintenance programmes
*Specialist experience in a relevant technical subject: e.g. building management systems, heating, utilities supply etc.
*Experience of working with a range of contractors, suppliers and other colleagues, such as designers, specialists, artists and project managers on museum / similar visitor attraction projects
*Experience of working in museums or large-scale visitor attractions and /or interpretative environments
*Excellent communicators (both written and verbal), with good interpersonal skills,
