Overview:

We are looking to recruit an engineering background field operations manager to lead a national function that has the primary focus of providing large scale industrial refrigeration / engineering services across sectors including food and pharmaceutical.

Working with market leading customers, you`ll be responsible for the management and delivery of service targets for a national team of refrigeration bias commissioning engineers that will be working alongside project teams responsible for works in the region of £500k to £5m in value.

This is a national role and as such, we have flexibility on location regarding base of operations as the position will be mixed between office and field work, but ideal would be a location in the North West of England.

Position may involve some overnight stays that will be fully funded by the company.


Key background & requirements:

* KPI driven people manager that is responsible for ensuring performance to SLA and improving customer experience for large scale business customers.
* Assumed technical knowledge prior to move into management to demonstrate credibility in areas such as refrigeration, HVAC or general M&E engineering.
* Track record in driving operational discipline and in creating team cultures in which results are measured, reported and recognized
* Solid experience with developing engineering teams and driving accountability, talent and succession planning
* Drives results and business development
* Analytical and process oriented
* Good to solid experience in managing operational risks and optimizing executed gross margin
* Experience in managing front line delivery teams in project or service environment
* Good financial understanding of a P&L and ways to impact an organization
* Operational management experience in the industry or grown from within the organization
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent through experience
* Industry awareness at a sufficient level to meet the requirements of the role
* Engineering management within sectors such as food (Meat and Poultry) or Pharmaceutical an advantage.


Key accountabilities:

* Field Operations Management of a national team of industrial refrigeration engineers that are working on high level / value contracts with customers in food & pharmaceutical.
* Drive continuous improvement and implementation of best practices.
* In contracting & installation, manages the project engineering and commissioning teams.
* Accountable for final capacity planning / effective utilization of manpower and overall resources.
* Drive development and implementation of operational discipline (tools, processes).
* Deliver to planned revenue and gross margin commitments. Continuously works to improve margins and optimize asset management including cost control, collections, and payables.
* Drive operational review meetings, reviewing bids and estimates for accuracy.
* Assist in the review and interpretation of contract terms and conditions and ensure that contractual obligations are completed and customer satisfaction is achieved.
* Assists in preparation of annual forecasting & operating plans.
* Manages the overall profitability, execution and performance of assigned delivery teams
* Resolve promptly all operational issues impacting customer satisfaction.
* Ensure that existing customer portfolios are achieving proper profit levels and customer satisfaction as well as scope growth.
* Ensure compliance with the EHS Program for employees and subcontractors.
* Coach teams on the management of existing customer portfolio, operational risks, conflict resolution and establish recovery plans
* Ensure individual & team goals and objectives are aligned and from a priority include EBIT, cash flow, backlog growth, SGA, productivity improvements, succession planning.
* Prepare and deliver clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports. Ensures a consistent level of coaching
* Recruit, hire, and retain operational staff.
* In addition to the above mentioned tasks, other activities and responsibilities may be individually defined.
