Civil's Supervisor (NRSWA)

Oxford

The role,

In this position you will supervise the excavation and reinstatement of a number of sites located in the Oxford Region on a large contracts of work lasting a minimum of 5 years. Most of the work will be focused on the Oxford area. You will report into a team manager but have responsibility for each site including all site activities, production of workforce and overall costs of the day to day undertakings. The main aim of this role is to prevent obstruction, time delays and keep the project on budget. This a field based role where you will act as the eyes in the field to give real time feedback to the management team to ensure that completion success rate on sites being excavated and re-laid are in line with KPI's and ensure the lowest amount of inconvenience for customers. You will be responsible for ensuring all of the quality and H&S safety standards on site are adhered to at all times. You will liaise with the local authorities to ensure road closures are permitted and that all of the works undertaken hit the required time scales. You will take a lead ensuring all of the crews perform their duties to the required standards and coach and demonstrate the quality of work you require. You will ensure all of the subcontractors have been the required signage out before work begins and that the signage is in place why work is undertaken. You will at times need to communicate with the client, subcontractors and managers of different levels about progress reports and any problems that may occur which affect the production of works.

*Conduct site safety checks to ensure all subcontractor signing and guarding and traffic management in general is appropriate and as per NRSWA spec
*Instruct contractor crews on appropriate signing and guarding as necessary
*Complete joint site inspection to assess visual quality of Civils work
*Conduct compaction tests as per specification to gauge the absolute level of compaction
*Coach crews on appropriate Civils methods to ensure that build quality is maintained
*Ensure all Civils work is as per all relevant HAUC standards
*Oversee core test regime and document findings with recommendations as required
*Liaise with local communities to ensure build programme progresses smoothly and with minimum disruption
*Conduct site surveys to assist initial design process
*Ensure Construction phase plans and Health and Safety files in place and being adhered to


The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience of working as a Civils supervisor or inspector on roads and highways working within either utilities energy or telecoms. We are looking for supervisors who are professional and strong communicators, who are able to instruct operators but also be able to speak with clients and stakeholders when necessary. Ideally we are looking for someone who has experience of working on the highways, inner city roads, or on street lighting. It is essential that all applicants have a thorough understanding of NRSWA and CDM regulations and this includes holding a NRSWA supervisor ticket. We are looking for candidates who are flexible and thrive to take on additional responsibilities when required. We are looking for ambitious supervisors with strong attention to detail and good written and verbal communication.
*NRSWA supervisory qualified
*Five year's experience of supervising street works
*Very strong CDM understanding, particular in relation to Principle Contractor
*Effective leader with strong communication skills

The Package

This role comes with a competitive salary of £30-£35 and is a perm position. The role also comes with a mobile, holidays and pension. There is no car allowance but you will be paid 45p per mile for any traveling you do, as well as all business expenses paid.
