Team leader (Production)

Oldham

The Opportunity

This is an ideal opportunity for a production team leader/supervisor/manager from a manufacturing background to join a company experiencing some serious growth. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in an SME manufacturing organisation based in Oldham. The successful candidates will become a key component of the company and play a part in driving the business forward.

The Role

The production team leader will take responsibility for a number of operations across the site. Reporting to the operations manager, the production team leader will typically be responsible for one production line and a workforce of some 30 people.
The main task of this role will be to lead shift teams to achieve or exceed agreed outputs in areas such as efficiency, costs, waste, productivity, safety, quality, and morale and customer service according to the site scorecards. The successful candidate will provide clear direction, encouragement and support to team members, develop team working ethics and ensure adherence to performance management standards. Production team leaders will be responsible for H&S, security, quality, cost, and delivery and responsiveness requirements of the shift. The production team leader will monitor the volume and quality of output and adjust tasks, timing, equipment set-up, or inputs so that production specifications are met and resources are used efficiently.

The candidate

We are looking for team leaders from a manufacturing background who have good leadership qualities, and excellent communication skills. The production team leader will need to have very good people management/leadership skills and be able to demonstrate how they have previously influenced and guided teams to achieve above average performance on a consistent basis. Team leaders must be able to drive the performance of their teams, by developing an open and trusting environment that leads to a strong working ethic among team members. We are looking for candidates that can motivate their teams and encourage urgency at times of need. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable taking a hands on approach when needed to drive performance and meet targets.
Candidates will need to open to learning new processes and procedures and once these have been embraced, encourage and ensure that they are adhered to by fellow team members.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years' worth of experience working in a 24-7 manufacturing site and enjoy the challenges of a fast paced operational role. Suitable candidates will have previously worked as either a team leader, supervisor or shift manager in a forward thinking manufacturing/FMCG environment. The shift managers will need to continually assess the areas of the plant they are responsible for and be confident in suggesting improvements to increase productivity and efficacy. Candidates should be comfortable completing disciplinary' s and appraisals when necessary, and above all have the development of their team at the forefront of their thinking at all times.
Suitable candidates will need to demonstrate a certain amount of technical knowledge and business acumen, and should be able to adjust quickly to a changing environment to ensure quality and production deadlines are met.

The package

This role comes with a basic salary of £27-£32K. The roles comes with a pension, holidays and life insurance.
