UK based with 80% International Travel

£47k - 55k, Pension, Healthcare, Occupational Health, Childcare Vouchers, Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Pay, 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays. All travel, living costs are covered.

The Opportunity
A fantastic and unique opportunity to join a world renowned company working as the Site Manager or (Resident Engineer) as our client refer to the role on the delivery of new manufacturing sites for our $8bn turnover per year globally recognised client. You'll be entrusted with for 3 to 6 weeks at a time managing the site build manufacturing equipment installation right up to commissioning, working alongside the Project Manager and with local Sub Contract Teams through a construction supervisor and electrical install supervisor who help with the local language barriers etc. Projects typically run for around 9month turnaround and for the next 2 years are entirely European based. Can you work with different cultures, in different climates and aspire to step up the ladder if you perform well into a fully-fledged Project Manager, then this role would be right up your street. You'll also understand, this role means you'll have to be highly flexible, you'll be working away 80% of the time and typically working 6days per week, it's a work hard play hard atmosphere, but one that is very rewarding and offers a great opportunity to see the world whilst doing a job you love.

This is an award winning Manufacturing Company founded over 100 years ago that design and produce all of their own product range. They have offices and facilities in more than 40 countries worldwide and float on the stock exchange, so have solid foundations that they are looking for your assistance to expand.

The Role

In this role you will be required to manage the site office and site on industrial building construction projects, ideally those of a manufacturing nature, that produce products through fast moving production lines. Our client work in 3 continents currently Europe, North/South America and the Asia Pacific, for the next 2 years' worth of projects in the book you'll almost entirely be based in Europe and will undertake a solid 12 month training period under the tutelage of Senior Project Managers who have been managing projects of this nature for years.

You'll be site based typically for 3/6 weeks at a time, usually working up to 6 day weeks to get deadlines met. You'll be site based working with local support, including at relevant times a construction supervisor, and electrical install supervisor and will lead the construction of the project and the installation of the production equipment up to the commissioning stage where you will hand the project over. You'll work closely with the Project Manager, when you are on site, you're his eyes and ears, often operating on different timescales, when you're not on site, he is present driving things forwards in your absence.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will be well qualified, potentially with a degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Structural or equivalent) and used to delivering construction of medium size industrial buildings and ideally process equipment installation. Naturally you'll be technical, and able to read and interpret technical drawings and understand specifications and control schedules and keep things on track. As with any projects of this nature, it suits someone who is flexible and can travel a lot, it's a high pressure, high reward lifestyle and you will be someone who lives and breathes the project until it's completed. When back in the UK Wantage is the site you'll report into in South Oxfordshire, but you don't necessarily need to be based out of that office permanently, the role is flexible for the right person.

Background wise if you have worked for a manufacturing business, or a construction business who deliver FMCG, Pharma, Packaging or even Automotive Tier 1 / 2 plant's on a global scale you'd be someone we were keen to speak with. You can be based almost anywhere in the UK to do this role.

Qualifications and Experience

Technical Engineering Degree background preferable
Site management experience for Construction of Industrial Buildings and Process Equipment Install for ideally 5 years plus
Flexibility to work away from the UK 80% of the time
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
The ability/adaptability to work with any culture in any climate
UK Driving License
No convictions that would prevent travel abroad

The Package

The role comes with a £38 - 45k salary plus 30% uplift when working away, meaning your total salary will be £47 - 55k as you're away 80% of the time, if you're away more your salary will be higher.
You'll receive $40 per day for meals and refreshments while you're away
All flights, hire cars, hotels, transfers etc are covered by the business, and all you need is your belongings and passport the rest is sorted by our client
25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays.
