Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Gosport (Portsmouth)
Shift based Mon - Fri 37.5hours
£30000 - 35000 + overtime + great pension, 25 days holiday + 8 bank hols

You'll get to work across the site on a range of different lines and production machinery covering the majority of electrical faults and completing basic mechanical tasks on both a reactive and planned basis.

The Role

You'll be one of the reactive engineers on site, a range of different lines on site, working as the first point of call for maintenance. You'll work covering, maintenance, faults, and reactive repair work and will require you to run a tight PPM schedule and suggest improvements, as downtime obviously has large knock on effects to the rest of the business. You'll have some familiarity ideally dealing manufacturing machinery in a plant environment and won't mind working on shift. You'll help contribute to the smooth running of the plant, you'll be good a prioritizing workload, have a keen eye for detail, will look for and suggest improvements and be proactive in looking a preventable faults.
The role does have real scope for development, both in your personal knowledge but also in the position. The company a keen on continuous improvement and with training and opportunities for development. You'll come in alongside a skilled mechanical engineer, whom, the factory has just become too busy to cover in his own. The business are one of the best for helping people develop and promoting from within, both on this plant and other plants in the UK as they have many. Ideally you'll be someone to bring in some fresh ideas, an engineer who can think outside the box and help develop their PPM schedule which the team have openly admitted can always be improved.

The Shift Rota

For the first 6 months you'll work on a 6/2 and 2/10 basis, but after 6 months working closely with the other engineer, they want to move this role onto a later shift, looking at 12/8pm or 1/9pm something like that, all Monday to Friday based.

The Company

An award winning global business with multiple UK based sites. This site has around 45 employees working on it (its one of their smaller UK sites), with over 30 of those in operations. The business is always investing and already has plans for new machinery installs next year, which will involve more project based engineering work that you'll be instrumental to. Last year the business spent a good amount on overtime for engineers and operations staff on Saturday and Sunday's so there is a good opportunity to top up your earning if you're flexible. The company is one of the most innovative in their sector, with constant new products, leading to them being of the top 3 manufacturers in their sector worldwide and are always investing to stay ahead of its rivals. If you have worked in a fast paced manufacturing environment then this will be a really good move for a global business and one of the household names in the area.

The Candidate

You'll electrically biased, and ideally will have some basic mechanical competency either 70:30 or 60:40 in bias ideally and you'll have worked in a manufacturing environment, with different production lines as part of the maintenance team. Naturally this maybe, packaging, FMCG, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or food. You'll want to learn and develop, but also will bring your own new ideas, and a spark and energy about you, and will want to come in and make a difference. You'll have plenty of support for line managers and will be able to escalate issues if required. You'll get 3-6months training across the different lines, this environment is fast paced manufacturing. You'll naturally want to take a step up to work for the leading employer in the sector. Technically you'll want to test yourself and learn new things, and will get the opportunity to line manage contractors on site and get longer term opportunities for progression in to senior engineering or leadership. You'll be strong electrically and have some good mechanical fault finding understanding. Electrically, you'll be looking at motors, inverters, panels, sensors, PLC fault finding (not essential you have experience doing this), 3 phase, drives, e stops, conveyors. Mechanically, you're looking at repairs, fault finding and maintenance both planned and reactive on belts, bearings, motors, conveyors, shafts, pneumatics, hydraulics etc.
Qualifications

NVQ or C&G Electrical or equivalent essential
PLC exposure at basic fault finding level would be advantageous
Package

£30000 - 35000 salary bracket depending on experience + overtime opportunity
25 days holiday + 8 days bank holiday
OT is Weekdays and Saturday and Sunday everything is time and ½ except Sundays which is 2x pay.
Pension 3% employee and 6% employer
