The Opportunity
We have a great opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join a successful and growing computer hardware manufacturing company just outside of Portsmouth. The Quality Engineer role offers an opportunity to come in and develop your skills, whilst also applying the previous experience you have had. We are looking for somebody with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience, ideally from a manufacturing environment who produce either computer or automotive parts. The successful candidate good understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and qualified to a HND level or the equivalent.

The Role
The Quality Engineer will join the team to provide quality assurance and quality control support to the companies Quality Manager, in particular monitoring production operations to ensure the integrity of electronic components and products produced. Supporting process improvement and problem-solving efforts with the focus on protecting and improving product quality by removing waste and non-value adding processes.

Day to day responsibilities;
* Maintain and continuously seek to improve our high standards of production workmanship, including IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
* Provide expert analysis, guidance and support including effective use of problem solving tools/techniques and statistical analysis.
* Works with purchasing team to maintain and improve the quality of supplied materials through data analysis, supporting supplier assessments and administrating the supplier approval process.
* Supporting the business in the maintenance of its overall management system including ISO 9001/14001 certification.
* Measure and report quality statistics and identify and implement timely and effective corrective actions.
* Understand process mapping and able to create business process documentation
* Undertake inspections using basic inspection and test equipment

The Person
We are looking for a candidate who comes from a manufacturing background with a real drive and passion for lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques. You will need to be experienced in and enjoy applying root cause approaches to failure and identifying associated improvement plans. Have good written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable analysing, reporting and presenting quality issues at all levels of the business including customers and suppliers. Microsoft computer skills are also desirable.
