The Opportunity:

Plant Manager (Power) required for our client who are one of the world's largest and most established organisations. The Plant Manager (Power) is to manage a new facility so this is an opportunity for an established professional to come in to a new project right at the start, be involved in all the recruitment of the new facility and forge a strong career.

With all the potential financial aspects, this can be worth over £83k per annum with additional benefits.


The Role:

The Plant Manager (Power) is to manage all aspects of a new Energy Recovery Facility. You are to be involved in co-ordinating all activities on site, all the financial side (including budgets) reporting to the Regional Director.

*Establishes and delivers an effective safety and environmental compliance culture for all plant and processes on site, including the methods and organisation of work.
*Directs the operations to deliver on financial and technical performance targets
*Identifies, plans and authorises improvements to systems and processes to deliver continual improvement in safety, environmental and process efficiency
*Prepares an annual budget for review and subsequently works within an approved revenue, cost and
*Undertake all aspects of staff management, including recruitment, induction, appraisals, training & development, disciplinary & grievance
*Direct and co-ordinate all aspects of the Energy Recovery Facility, liaising with the site Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager
*Ensures compliance with the company's Quality and Environmental Management System and Health and Safety Policies;
*Ensures that the facility operates within legal requirements and environmental legislation ISO 9001,1401,1800;
*Carries out internal and external audits

The Person:

For the Plant Manager (Power), we are looking for somebody who comes from an engineering background and has worked their way up to management level to a strong level. You MUST have done this in power or within a power station, although people from a technical forces background - like the Navy - have proven successful in the past.

*Good knowledge of MSW Incineration and Power Generation, preferably having experience at a Management level in one of these areas.
*Knowledge of current H&S issues and safe working systems
*Knowledge of Environmental Permits and associated reporting regime
*A practical Engineer with an appropriate level of experience in a supervisory Operations role within a process industry, gained in a Chemical, Waste Incineration or Power Generation environment, ideally involving steam raising plant
*Experience of managing budgets and in training and development of staff
