UPS Engineer

£35-£43K + bonus + 25 days holiday + Excellent Pension + Private health Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading blue chip global company who provide extensive training and development for their employees. If you have a background in electrical engineering and an understanding of UPS systems. Previous technical support engineers within this organisation have progressed to general manager and director level roles.

The Role

Your role will be to provide technical and application support to all internal and external customers. This may be to clients calling the company for advice on certain products or providing support for engineers in the field. This support will cover uninterruptible power supply systems, data centres and UPS monitoring devices.

You will provide technical support to customers in relation to maintaining, testing and repairing UPS systems and equipment in the field. You will liaise with the product activities teams, after-sales, marketing and the call centre to resolve any new or outstanding issues. Full training is provided in this role but experience with products you will be providing support for is warmly welcomed. The training programme is intense and will last for a period of around 3 months before you are placed into the support department. This time will be used to ensure you are fully up to speed so flexibility in the early stages of this role will be paramount.

This role will require you to provide the highest levels of customer care at all times and be able to communicate technical issues and solutions to non-technical individuals.

You will be required to provide Pre-sales technical support to customers on UPS and data centre systems. You will monitor frequently asked questions so these can be added to a website and database.

You will speak with customers and log there requirements which will then be forwarded onto a sales department. You will be required to handle enquiries at a 2nd and 3rd line support level, so an advanced level. At times you will be required to visit client sites to further investigate client requirements and continue to build relationships.

This is ideal for someone who is looking at cutting down travel and being based in cutting edge offices with real progression opportunities in a static working environment.

The Candidate

Candidates for this role will need to be educated to ideally a HNC level or above and/or have served an equivalent apprenticeship. Candidates should have experience of UPS, data centre systems and monitoring devices. This is important as you will need to explain and assist with problems and advice relating to these areas. Suitable candidates may have worked previously as maintenance engineers, field engineers and are now looking to move inside to a role which offers extensive development and progression. Candidates will need to enjoy creating relationships with customers and providing support to a range of external and internal clients as well as site engineers. Candidates should be well organised with time management skills and have good all round I.T. skills, including all Microsoft packages.

The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who has very good communication and is able to speak both technically and in layman's terms depending on who it is they are providing support for.

The Package

£35-£43K + bonus + overtime 8%-16% + 25days holiday + 8 bank holidays + Excellent Pension + Private health. Monday to Friday 37.5 hour week.
