The Opportunity
One of the world's largest oil majors urgently requires a Marine Shift Supervisor to join their operation based in Southampton due to an internal promotion - this is a key position within the business unit.

The Marine Shift Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable handling of all fuels, additives and markers which are imported, stored and exported by the Terminal, in line with appropriate legislation and Safety Standard. As part of the shift rota, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for control of work on site (i.e. they will be a permit authority). The Shift Supervisor- Marine is also responsible for emergency response within the terminal, and outside of normal working hours the will be the competent person on site.

The Role
The Shift Supervisor- Marine will Responsible for:

Element 1.0 Leadership
Demonstrate commitment to and compliance with BP's Operating Management System, ensuring adherence to all health, safety, security, environment and quality processes and procedures within the terminal
Uphold BP's core values and behaviours around safety, respect, excellence, courage and one team
Responsible for the direction of the Terminal Operator and other contractors as required to ensure safe, efficient and reliable terminal operations and for delivering against terminal availability targets

Element: 2.0 Organization
Responsible for ensuring unsafe work is stopped immediately
Perform induction training covering HSSE and emergency procedures for all personnel working on or visiting site
Participate in all relevant terminal governance processes including daily operations meetings, weekly operations meetings, work planning meetings and terminal safety meetings.

Element: 3.0 Risk
Application of all BP Health & Safety Policy and adherence to all elements of the Operating Management System to manage/minimise the identified risks associated with terminal operations
Application of the Risk Assessment Procedure
Perform planned and unplanned SOC (Safety Operations Conversation)
Primary first aid responder for the terminal

Element: 4.0 Procedures
Performing Authority within BP's Control of Work (CoW) process.
Promote BP's HSSE policies including: Golden Rules of Safety
Key role in emergency response, taking the role of Incident Commander until relieved and thereafter taking the role of On-Scene Controller
Undertake Evacuation exercises and First Aid Exercises.
Review and develop operational procedures with HITRA
Report all near misses and incidents

Element: 5.0 Assets
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all plant and equipment, ensuring equipment integrity is maintained by operating the asset within its operating envelope
Operate various computerised control systems in control room environment
Application of various elements of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) covering all terminal assets, including the reporting of defects and signing-off of completed work orders

Element: 6.0 Optimization
Ensure stock accounting deadlines and systems are maintained and all losses and gains in excess of BP standards are investigated.
Maintain strong line of communication with Stocks admin team of any issues relating to imports and exports.
Ensure Cost of Goods and Services are within the BP approved P2P and procurement framework and is aligned with Terminal unit rates.

Element: 7.0 Privilege to Operate
Understand and apply all legal and regulatory requirements associated with site operations.
Ensure the principles of pollution control and the prevention of environmental damage are upheld so as to ensure compliance with the requirements of ISO14001.

The Candidate
The ideal Marine Shift Supervisor will have;

*Legislation and Safety awareness and knowledge.
*Knowledge of IT systems used with Logistics, e.g. ETAS.
*Be familiar with emergency response equipment and procedures.
*Be trained in the work permit system.
*Experience of working with hazardous products.
*Experience of working with industrial plant/processes.
*Knowledge of requirements of ISO9002/14001 and of COSHH/COMAH regulations.
*Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Certificate is preferred
*NVQ Level 2 Bulk Liquid Warehousing is preferred
*First Aid Training is required

The Package
Paying £40k to £45k
bonus opportunity (non-guaranteed) - averaging 10% of base pay
Shift allowance of £4,700 per annum
Meal allowance of £1,527.60 per annum
