The Opportunity
One of the world's largest oil majors urgently requires a MarineSuperintendent to join their operation based in Southampton due to an internal promotion - this is a key position within the business unit.
The main objective of the role is to manage the terminal operations whilst providing leadership and sound advice to staff based within the terminal, ensuring continued compliance with safety standards and company policy. You will be responsible for ensuring the adherence to all relevant marine standards and the continuous re-evaluation of safety procedures to keep all loss to a minimum.
Required for the role is a extensive knowledge and experience of terminal operations/management - qualifications in Superintendancy or similar would be advantageous.The successful candidate will be a confident leader and be adept at man-management.

The Role
The Marine Superintendent will Responsible for:

*compliance with and applicable legislation, standards, safety guidelines/codes
*assessing the marine risk and establishing appropriate and adequate control measures including development of all procedures
*safe conduct of marine operations in accordance with procedures
*prevention of marine pollution
*emergency preparedness and response
*Operation of a fiscal metering system, ensuring accurate measurement, sampling and documentation of oil quantities.
*To ensure that personnel are trained to an appropriate standard and assessed as competent for relevant tasks
*To decide on the suitability of vessels to use the facility and the overall safety of an operation.
*To order a vessel to vacate the berth due unsuitability, safety infringements or extended berth occupancy.
*Programming the berthing of crude vessels taking in to account Wytch Farm oil field production, stock situation, demurrage and prevailing / forecast weather conditions.
*Scheduling of jet, diesel, ethanol and kerosene vessels to minimise demurrage and to prevent disruption to Wytch Farm oil field production
*Compilation of operating procedures, pollution contingency plans and jetty regulations.
*Completion of non-specialist maintenance within the terminal
*Single point of accountability for terminal security
*Control of a portion of the terminal budget associated with marine operations
*Berthing / off-loading / un-berthing of jet cargoes for Air BP and ground fuel cargoes for UK Fuels Value Chain
*Berthing / loading / un-berthing of crude oil tankers for Perenco
*Fiscal measurement of crude oil cargoes

The Candidate
The ideal Marine Superintendent will have;

*Thoroughly conversant with relevant legislation, guidelines and codes as applicable to the terminal and marine operations
*Full understanding of the risks and controls involved in terminal and marine operations.
*A sound knowledge of pilotage and towage issues
*Experienced in dynamic and static measurement of oil quantities, oil stocks and shipping documentation
*Ability to set and work within a budget
*Experience of working with regulatory authorities including TRANSEC, Port Authority and Marine Coastguard Agency
*In-depth experience and knowledge of oil terminal and marine operations essential
*Professional qualification desirable, e.g. Master Mariner, Diploma in Ship Superintendancy

The Package
Paying £40k to £55k
12% of ACB bonus opportunities based on salary and performance
Flex Allowance of 15% based salary
Meal Allowance of £1,527.60 per annum
Shift allowance of £1040.04
