The Opportunity

This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised, people focused operations manager to come and run a large distribution centre in Heathrow. The operation manager will be responsible for driving the performance of employees at a key hub for this industry leading business.

The Role

The operations manager will be responsible for a large tool hire distribution centre based in Heathrow. The operations manager will be responsible for all the logistics, including ensuring the right amount of jobs are allocated per vehicle and customer deliveries and collections are run in an efficient manner. The operations manager will drive performance while increasing staff morale by providing the highest level of leadership.
The role will require the operations manager to take responsibility for logistics, stock, control, H&S and a team of around 25 employees made up of fitters, warehouse staff, workshop staff, drivers, and stock controllers. You will be expected to train, motivate, and develop the staff and drive KPI performance. You will be responsible for ensuring that the engineers deliver the highest levels of customer service at all times for both internal and external customers. This is a KPI driven environment and you will be responsible for the performance and staff to ensure the highest levels of productivity. You will be responsible for planning, organising and managing all aspects of the distribution centre and introducing processes to increase quality and productivity.
The operations manager will be responsible for the distribution centre costs and budget.

The Candidate

This is a fantastic opportunity for an operations manager to join a national company within a critically important role. The ideal candidate for this role will be a natural leader of people who has excellent communication, timekeeping and organisational skills ideally combined with a technical background within the tool/plant hire industry. We are looking for operations managers who have logistics backgrounds and have experience of organising multiple deliveries. It has been speculated someone from a large warehouse/distribution background could be deal for this role.
The ideal candidate will be able to motivate, train and instruct a number of skilled fitters and drivers to provide an exceptional service to internal departments and external customers. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of KPI performance measures and be confident with introducing new processes to ensure efficiency, productivity and quality within the refurbishment centre. Candidates who have a good working knowledge of tool and plant hire equipment would be warmly received although this is by no means a prerequisite.
The ideal candidate will have good business acumen and be able to see areas of improvement within the refurbishment plant and be able to express the most productive ways of insuring these changes occur. The ideal candidate should have had previous knowledge or experience of handling budgets as you will be responsible for the refurbishment centre costs and making sure these are not exceeded. Candidates will need to be driven and passionate to make a real impression with the business.
Candidates will need to be aware of safety issues and promote the importance of careful working practices to their subordinates.
