Parts Quality Engineer

This role requires a mechanically biased engineer with experience working in a quality orientated environment in the manufacturing industry. Our client are a well-respected global automotive manufacturer who are looking to expand their engineering department. You will play a pivotal role in assuring quality of automotive parts and sub-assemblies supplied to both on site and in Swindon and for their Tier 1 & 2 customers.

The Role

As a key member of the quality engineering, you will play a pivotal role in assuring quality of automotive parts and sub-assemblies, by assisting suppliers in developing the quality of parts, to ensure any actual or potential quality concerns are minimized, contained and eradicated by the development and application of countermeasures based on root cause analysis.
This is an outward-facing role in which you will work closely with our customers and suppliers, carrying out visits as required, in order to manage any quality issues from detection to permanent resolution.

You'll lead and control parts quality problem resolution, using activities such as:

*Containment, including customer visit
*Inspection, either directly or with 3rd party inspection company
*Root cause analysis and establishment of suitable permanent countermeasures
*Performance review and monitoring of development using our clients Total Quality Management (TQM) management system
*Establish and maintain centralised files for all parts drawings and specifications
*Manage and maintain electronic drawing storage, receipt and access
*Support the Supplier Quality Development Engineer in auditing timing plans of new model, ensuring project plan is regularly reported to management and correct agreements are signed with customers and suppliers.
*For new model and or new business introductions support the Supplier Quality Development Engineer in tracking and analysing control items such as:
*Build Data, Capacity Studies, Capability Studies, Part Quality reporting, Design change tracking

The Opportunity

Our client are part of the global automotive manufacturer group operating in over 21 countries and regions with bases in 54 locations throughout the world.

They are specialists in supplying:
Raw materials such as light metals, steel, plastics and resin
Direct supply import of parts for Just in Time delivery to production facilities & their Suppliers.
Parts export to our client's global manufacturing operations
Dies and machinery for manufacturing operations.
CE Marking of manufacturing equipment.

Experience

*A minimum of 2 years' experience in an Engineering background and associated qualification or experience
*Managing the quality resolution process from the reporting of the concern and containment through to countermeasure confirmation
*Volume manufacturing, to include mass production volume verification
*Ability to check and verify parts against CAD drawings
*Extensive problem solving, focused on determining the root cause
*Full UK driving license and the ability to travel without restriction

The following is not essential but would be advantageous:

*Automotive manufacturing experience
*Knowledge of BOM and parts structures
*A recognised qualification in engineering or quality management
