Technical Support engineer

Telford

The opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading Bluechip global company who provide extensive training and development for their employees. If you have a background in electrical engineering, an understanding of PLC's including some programming, and excellent customer service skills this could be an ideal opportunity for you. Previous TSE engineers within this organisation have progressed to general manager and director level roles.

The role.

Your role will be to provide technical and application support to all internal and external customers. Full training is provided in this role but you will need experience with the products with which you will be supporting. The training programme is quite intense and will last for a period of at least 3 months before you are promoted into the support department.
You will provide technical support to customers in relation to fault finding and commissioning of their industrial electrical/electronic products. You will liaise with the product activities teams, after-sales, marketing and the call centre to resolve any new or outstanding issues.
This role will require you to provide the highest levels of customer care at all times and be able to communicate technical issues and solutions to non-technical individuals.
You will be required to provide Pre-sales technical support to customers on Industrial control product ranges, detection products and PLC and Software products.
This role will require you to provide advanced technical support on the following Variable speed drives, Automation products and LV Distribution products. You will monitor frequently asked questions so these can be added to a website and database.
You will speak with customers and log there requirements which will then be forwarded onto a sales department. You will be required to escalate any advanced issues to 2nd and 3rd line support. At times you will be required to visit client sites to further investigate client requirements and continue to build relationships.

The candidate

Candidates for this role will need to be educated to ideally a HNC level or above and/or have served an equivalent apprenticeship. Candidates should have some experience of PLC programming and associated applications and have worked with low voltage distribution equipment, variable speed drives, and automated machinery previously. This is important as you will need to explain and assist with problems and advice relating to these areas. Suitable candidates may have worked previously as maintenance or field engineers and are now looking to move inside to a role which offers extensive development and progression. Candidates will need to enjoy creating relationships with customers and providing support to a range of external and internal clients as well as site engineers. Candidates should be well organised with time management skills and have good all round I.T. skills, including all Microsoft packages.
The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who has very good communication and is able to speak both technically and in layman's terms depending on who it is they are providing support for.
