The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a health and Safety professional with a background in quality to join a European company in a time of significant growth and prosperity. The role will require you to oversee all Health, Safety & Quality matters for two small sheet plants located in Exeter and Oxford. The role is twofold, firstly you will be responsible for ensuring that accidents at both the Oxford and Exeter plants are reduced, and secondly taking an active role in the quality of the product reaches the necessary standards.
You will be responsible for defining continuous health and safety practices at both plants and updating the health and safety manual accordingly. You will be required to undertake risk assessments SSOW, accident investigations, RIDDORS, LTA and related claims. You will be expected to lead and organise regular H&S meetings to discuss any related issues that need attention. The successful candidate will be responsible for educating, training and promoting safe working practices among employees at all times. You will also take a lead in speaking with insurance companies in regards to claims, and complete health and safety inductions on site for permanent employees and contractors.
The successful candidate will take an active role in quality management, you will be responsible for creating procedures and amendments/documents/processes and ensuring adherence to QMS is maintained. You will take a lead in managing external and internal audits and any corrective actions that arise. You will be responsible for monitoring shop floor quality throughout the production manufacturing process and assist with implementing any required training. You will assist with any customer complaints in regards to quality of goods.

The Candidate

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career or for a more experienced individual to take on a key role where they will be able to make a real impact in the successful management of the two plants. Candidates will need to comfortable with travelling between the two plants located in Oxford and Exeter, and this may include some overnight stays in hotels (which the company will arrange). Candidates will need to be based in either the Oxford or Exeter areas and will be assigned to one site as the base of operations. We are looking for candidates who have previously been involved with quality in a manufacturing or production environment and then moved into an H&S role. The ideal candidate will have attained a NEBOSH general certificate in H&S or equivalent, and have a working knowledge of ISO/quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver have experience of conducting root cause analysis. We are looking for candidates who have good communication skills both written /verbal, who are very well organised and able to for am essential part of the managements team. This role will suit someone who is comfortable working in a noisy and high pressurised environment. Any candidates with experience working with packaging previously will be very warmly received.

The Package.
This role comes with a starting salary of between £30-£33K + a pension, life insurance and 25 days holidays + the additional 8 bank holidays.
