The opportunity:

This is an ideal opportunity for an Operations Manager from an all-round management background, from the logistics industry and ideally with experience of working with the import of goods and then distribution around the UK to run a large distribution centre in Gloucester. The Operations Manager will be responsible for driving performance of employees across multiple departments at the head office for this industry leading business.

The role:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for a large and self-sufficient distribution centre based in Gloucester. The operations manager will be responsible for all the logistics, ensuring the right amount of jobs are allocated per vehicle and customer deliveries are run in an efficient manner. The Operations Manager will drive performance while increasing staff morale by providing the highest level of leadership.

The role will require the Operations Manager to take responsibility for logistics, stock, customer service and internal sales, although you will have department leaders taking responsibility on a lower level for each of these functions. We are looking for someone with fresh ideas to help push the company forward. You will be expected to train, motivate and develop the staff whilst driving performance and while this is a KPI driven environment, you will still be encouraged to assess and implement further measurement process to ensure the highest levels of productivity.

The candidate:

The ideal candidate will have good business acumen and be able to see areas of improvement within the company and be able to express the most productive ways of insuring these changes occur. The ideal candidate should have had previous knowledge or experience of handling budgets as you will be responsible for the centre costs and making sure these are not exceeded. We are looking for an all-rounder that can contribute ideas, make suggestions and backup with a business case. Candidates will need to be driven and passionate to make a real impression with the business.
