Job Summary

Our client manages a number of Educational sites within Oxfordshire. They now wish to appoint a Facilities Manager (Soft Services) to coordinate operations across their largest site which is undergoing a major redevelopment. The position will report to the Head of Operations and is salaried at £31,672 pa plus contributory pension scheme, company mobile, free access to a sports complex, library and bus travel and 31 days holiday plus 8 days bank holiday, rising by 1 day every 3 years to 28.


Job Description

Our client is interested in speaking to candidates with a professional focus on team building and team development. Applicants will need to have experience of soft facilities with a strong working awareness of Health and Safety and Risk Management. Candidates with a strictly hard facilities or site management background only will not be suitable for this position. A degree level education is essential with a Facilities Management qualification being of a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities will include:

* To manage all budgets and develop systems for monitoring and predicting expenditure
* Lead, develop and motivate a team of 20 staff including admin, contracted caretaking, security, administration and cleaning staff
* To attend relevant Health and Safety training and to filter this training back to appropriate members of staff
* To manage the security of the campus including Master Keys, swipe cards and the monitoring and maintenance of all CCTV
* Ensuring all necessary risk assessments are carried out and monitored
* Act as a first port of call for all enquiries to the campus and to act as Emergency Response during daytime hours
* Conduct regular PDPs feedback on the performance of the security, cleaning and car park arrangements
* Be trained in and administer First Aid
* Demonstrate excellent people management skills

Experience of managing a complex, multi-function organisation is essential as the role will involve the management of a range of building types. Knowledge of the contract and tendering process is important and a financial/accountancy background would be preferable.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel combined with being an organised and self motivated person are key to this role as budget management and report writing will be an aspect of this role. Excellent communication skills will also be required as a successful candidate will be dealing with members of the public on a daily basis. Experience working within the Higher Education sector would also be of a distinct advantage.
