The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Administrator / Receptionist to join an already established and growing construction company based just outside Chelmsford in Essex. What sets this role apart is that you will be responsible for a wide and varied role were no 2 days are the same helping cover all aspects of the company's administration from material and plant hire enquiries, managing invoices and purchase orders through to liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Please note this role is based just 10 minutes outside of Chelmsford but with limited access via public transport, therefore it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.


Overview of the Role

This is a permanent role working Mon-Fri. The company itself completes construction builds in the general Essex / East London area with typical projects including new build houses / apartments, commercial builds, healthcare centres, schools etc. Joining a small but experienced team you will work directly with the owners of the company and be the number 1 go to person for all general office administration and reception duties.

Typical day to day tasks you can expect are:

-Receptionist (answering the phone to customers, external stakeholders, suppliers etc

-General office administration including photocopying, faxing, printing etc

-Material and Plant hire enquiries & purchasing

-Raising invoices and matching them with purchase orders

-Co-ordination and management of reported defects on construction builds during the company's liability period.

-Producing and documenting company updates which can then be added to the website.

-Investigation of tender opportunities for future projects.

-Liaising with site management teams and helping co-ordinate works.


The Individual

We are looking for an experienced Administrator / Receptionist who is able to step into a busy role. You will be fully competent in the above tasks and be able to multi-task and keep to timescales.

Ideally you will have had experience in working in a similar role within the construction industry however we would be interested in hearing from those candidates who have come from an Admin / receptionist role in other technical /engineering industries.

You will have excellent communication skills as working in the centre of the company in a small team environment you will co-ordinate and liaise with external customers and suppliers as well as internal workers, site managers, subcontractors and of course, the owners of the company themselves.

You will be organised and be able to prioritise tasks in order of importance and in accordance with timescales.

It is also assumed you will have an array of competent IT skills including, web, email, Microsoft office packages including word, excel.


The Package

Permanent position based at the company's office just outside of Chelmsford
£22-25k + 20 days holiday + public holidays
Working hours are Mon-Fri 8am-5pm with 1 hour lunch break.

Please note, although only 10 minutes from Chelmsford the office location is not accessible via public transport therefore it is essential you hold a UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
