The Opportunity

Excellent opportunity for a Cisco bias network support engineer with a solid Microsoft technology background to join an ISP who are experiencing rapid growth. The network support engineer will join an experienced team handling client enquiries about service, network operation and dealing with 3rd party carriers at 2nd and 3rd line level.

The Role

The Network Support Engineers role will involve working from the office based in between Oxford and Reading.
As a Network Support Engineer you will be responsible for handing enquiries escalated to you from support team. You'll be dealing with 3rd party carriers to ensure the network is performing to its optimum and have a strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking working at CCNA/CCNP level of certification.

It will be expected that you have a good familiarity with BGP, OSPF and MPLS alongside general networking protocols.

You'll also be able to understand the specifics of home IT networks, involving server, email, wifi and Ethernet issues.
You'll be involved in handling customer issues and communicating these to the engineering team, to ensure customers incidents regarding service and status are kept to a minimum and the system runs at full capacity. You'll have come from a network support/ IT support background possibly from an ISP or growing tech company, with a fundamental understanding of IT support to 1st/2nd line level.

Knowledge and Skills

*Handing client enquiries about ISP services and status
*CCNA/CCNP/JNCIA level certification would be beneficial
*Keep systems health and running at full capacity
*Creating and resolving 2nd/3rd line service issues
*Creating and/or updating case notes on service incident tickets
*Reporting of the type and volume of customer issues to the Engineering team
*Documentation of procedures that support customers and aid incident resolution
*Dealing with 3rd party carriers that provide circuits to ISP's
*Remote Support for customers on typical ISP issues
*The use of ticketing systems and Knowledge Management Systems

The Candidate

The most suitable candidates for this will have previously worked for an ISP, MSP or tech company, in the capacity of a Network Support Engineer or IT Support role. You'll be qualified and familiar working with Cisco or Juniper routers and switches and seeking to join one of the fastest expanding technology companies in the UK.
