Technical Project Manager

Abingdon

The Opportunity
Are you a technically savvy Project Manager that wants to play a key part in deploying cutting edge technology projects?

If so, this brand new position gives a chance for you to combine your technical knowledge with the deployment of a range of technical solutions.

The Role
Working as a Technical Project Manager within the Network Engineering function, you will be responsible for playing a key part in the successful delivery of complex network projects.
You'll be working on new customer implementation projects alongside existing customer moves / changes and migrations and as such will be ideally have previous experience in Cisco and/or Juniper as well as Microsoft technologies including VMWare, Lync and Office 365.

This role would suit a Technical Project Manager that has previously been hands-on as an Engineer then moved into project management. A technical background in networking Cisco and/or Juniper with an understanding of Microsoft infrastructure background (VMWare, Lynx, Office 365 etc) is ideal.

If you have a Microsoft infrastructure background with some networking knowledge that's evolved into a Project Manager role this will also be considered so please still apply.

You'll be a customer facing Technical Project Manager that can deliver the projects and also speak with credibility due to having a technical background.

This role is office based role and you will be involved in the following duties:

* Owning assigned Projects from start to finish and ensuring clear and precise customer and stakeholder communication is provided throughout the project.
* Ensuring all Projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with great customer experience.
* Managing multiple complex network projects.
* Developing and maintaining project documents including project plans.
* Monitoring project progress and performance.
* Work closely with other teams to ensure you have a full understanding of the customer requirements.

The Requirements

*Previous hands-on experience as an Engineer that's then moved into project management.
*Prince 2 certified - While methodology and process is important, this is not a rigid environment so would be expected to demonstrate a flexible approach to suit the particular project and customer requirements.
*Technology background including Cisco and/or Juniper and Microsoft
*Previous experience of leading and managing multiple projects.
*Strong understanding of corporate networks and experience dealing with external suppliers.
*Knowledge and demonstrable experience of project planning processes, techniques, methodologies, risk and commercial savvy.

This is a rapid deployment technology environment and you`ll need the ability to manage multiple projects at any one time. It`s fluid, and the methodology is based around Prince 2 so while we are hoping you`ll be a practitioner, we`ll be flexible on methodology if the track record of implementing network technology projects is there.

The Company
There is a real chance to play a part in shaping the growth of the project function within the technology team and this would be the first dedicated Technical Project Manager position specifically in this area, so you`ll not be joining a rigid environment and picking up the pieces of somebodies else`s prior work.
