The Opportunity
Bluefire Consulting are recruiting for a Technical Services Manager to work in one of the UK's largest legal organisations. Overseeing a dynamic technical services team and service desk, this technical management opportunity is an ideal chance to work for a forward-thinking, professional organisation who have recently invested heavily on a network upgrade and new call centre technologies.

The Role
As Technical Services Manager you will manage the IT provision and support for up to 500 staff across 3 sites in the UK. Main duties of the role will include:

*overseeing the (3rd line) technical services team and an ITIL based service desk who provide onsite and remote support across the company
*developing and implementing projects including new infrastructure, hardware and applications
*liaising with third party suppliers
*managing the department work load to ensure internal and external SLA's are adhered to

The Candidate
As a successful Technical Services Manager candidate you must have previous experience supervising an IT/technical services team, ideally within a professional services environment.
Strong IT knowledge with a focus on desktop, server, networking and virtualisation is essential, although this is not a hands on role. Technical knowledge is required to demonstrate a considerable amount of gravitas as the technical engineers sitting underneath the role are working to a solid 3rd line level.

Specific technical knowledge would be Windows Server, SAN, IP Telephony, Cisco Networks, VMWare and Citrix.

The Technical Services Manager role is a senior position and you would be expected to have excellent communication skills and be forthcoming with suggestions to the senior management team.

Equally importantly you should be able to readily translate technical discussions into easy to understand information for non-IT personnel, and vice versa.
