Our client is a national communications company.

We are looking to recruit an experienced operations manager to run the Birmingham site, which currently consists of around 70-80 field engineers and 4 team leaders. Performance and quality need to improve in the area and as such, this role would suit a manager with a proven track record of working as a "Troubleshooter" and an implementer of change. This position is a challenging role that offers a lot of reward, satisfaction and prestige to the manager who is able to deliver the required results.

The engineers on site work in residential field operations and would be performing multiple site visits to customers, across the West Midlands region. The company are a contract partner to one of the countries largest telecoms and broadband providers, so experience of working within a contractor / client relationship would be a major advantage.

You should be an experienced manager of people and have a detailed knowledge of KPI`s. This is a heavily management information driven role and as such, you should have a solid grasp of Microsoft Excel (And be a competent user of Microsoft Office).

Experience and Qualifications

* Previous management experience working in an installations / operations environment
* Comprehensive understanding of end to end telecommunications (Or associated industry) installation processes
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the cable TV industry / UK Telecoms
* Sound knowledge of the typical working relationship between contractor and client
* Extensive experience of working within a highly targeted KPI driven environment.
* Problem solving, often under pressure
* Ability to influence effectively at all levels within the business
* Demonstrate ability to ensure technicians are focussed on maximising on the day completion rates and delivering quality installations
* Flexible and able to prioritise workload to meet challenging deadlines and ability to multi-task
* Financial awareness with previous experience of budgetary control

The ability to motivate and improve morale is essential, and you should have a flexible outlook to the working week - typically, this role would involve working Tuesday to Saturday but due to current workload and demand from the main client, there is a lot of overtime for both management and field engineers.

This role is a permanent position and comes with a salary of a minimum £28,000 and company car. There is also a KPI linked bonus of upto £800 per month.
