Position: IT Support Administrator (2nd / 3rd Line)
Location: Bradford
Salary: £25-30k plus benefits.

Overview:
We are looking to recruit a Microsoft bias IT all rounder to join this global company based in Bradford. Working as part of a small IT department, you`ll be responsible for providing varied technical support to around 200 users along with working closely with the central IT function in Europe.

It is assumed you are a Microsoft savvy support engineer with a good grasp of their typical O/S and infrastructure including MS Server upto 2008, Exchange and active directory.
In addition, you will have virtual server support experience (Either VMWare or Hyper-V) and a solid understanding of networking and typical network protocols.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
*Be able to deal with users at all levels, from novice to expert, and change how information is passed on to suit the user level.
*Be able to manage back-up and recovery, manage tape library etc. monitor back-up activity to ensure correct operation.
*Work with help desk tickets, manage priority, communicate to end users and colleagues where needed in a timely manner.
*Communicate well with emails and verbally.
*Update and manage asset inventory.
*Monitor servers every day, looking for OS errors, hardware warnings etc.
*Monitor UPS, check console for errors
*Be able to manage implementation / configuration of new hardware / software, servers back-up, PC's, switches, AP's, mobile PDA's.
*Be flexible on working outside normal office hours, where required, to reduce impact of critical activities on the business.
*Keep records for reference where needed e.g. installation procedures, trouble shooting procedures, log-in credentials
*Build a collection of software tools to help in everyday tasks and trouble shooting problems
*Provide accurate, relevant information when working with third party suppliers and European colleagues, to resolve issues, implement new software / hardware etc.


Competencies

*Have the required level of understanding about the virtual server environment (VMWare) e.g. how it works, how to manage.
*Have an understanding of how a network infrastructure works, e.g. layout, switch relationship, connections - fibre / RJ45, relevant hardware etc.
*Be familiar with how standard software is set-up and configured to suit system / user requirements.
*Be familiar with MS server 2000 to 2008 OS. Completed Microsoft Course "Managing and Maintaining Microsoft Windows Server 2008" - or equivalent commercial support experience.
*Have an understanding of mobile device Operating systems
*Have an understanding of hardware, be able to trouble shoot component failure and swap out replacement parts when needed.
*Good Microsoft office skills.
