The Role
As a Desktop Support Engineer working for a leading IT managed services company, you will be responsible for providing desktop support. You will be based on customer site and will be responsible for fulfilling scheduled on site commitments. The customers are mainly in the banking/financial sector therefore previous experience in this area is preferred however not essential. Any exposure to market data applications such as Bloomberg, Factset and Eikon is highly advantageous.

You will have a broad range of desktop support skills gained in a demanding environment along with good customer facing and prioritisation skills. This role would suit someone ideally from an IT managed service provider/outsourced company however other backgrounds will be considered. You will have done support before, taking full ownership of problems and not continually escalating them to another team. Previous experience within banking/financial services is preferred however not essential. You will be working in a team and will be involved in the following duties:

*Perform as a 1st/2nd/3rd line engineer for remote and on site fixes
*Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction is maintained and all KPI's and SLA's are achieved
*Manage system installations, hardware and software upgrades
*Support users in the use of Microsoft Office software - all versions
*Software upgrades and installs as required
*Maintain procedures and system documentation
*Liaise with third line engineers when escalation is necessary
*Coordinate with third parties for support, installation and maintenance

It is essential you have experience with:
*Windows XP/7 installation, configuration and support
*Active Directory - Creating distribution groups
*Windows Server 2003/2008 - Logging onto, setting up new users
*All versions of Microsoft Office including 2007/2010
*Understanding of ITIL framework and related processes
*Microsoft Exchange
*Mobile devices including Blackberry, Apple products and mobile devices
*Remote connectivity tools such as Dameware, Citrix Go To Assist and RDP
*The ability to take ownership of problems and not escalate them continually onto another team; taking full ownership of issues is key for this role

It is desirable you have experience of:
*Working in an IT managed services/outsourced company within banking/financial services
*Market Data applications including Bloomberg, Factset, Fidessa and Eikon
*Avaya
*SCCM
*Cisco
*Juniper
*Sharepoint
*Any knowledge of Cloud / virtual computing
*Any certifications such as MCSA or ITIL are also highly advantageous.

The Requirements
As a Desktop Support Engineer you will have at least 5 years solid experience in a similar role working with Windows XP/7, Microsoft Office and Active Directory. You will be customer facing, be able to take ownership of problems and investigate issues without continually escalating to other teams. You will be an excellent communicator both verbally and written and will be looking for an opportunity where you can progress with the business.
