A leading Telecoms managed services company in the City of London are looking to recruit a NOC Engineer with a CCNA and ideally previous experience from an ISP/Telecoms company to work in their London office. The salary on offer is between £28,000 - £34,000 + Benefits.

NOC Engineer (CCNA, OSPF, ISP, Telecoms)
£28,000 - £34,000 + Excellent Benefits including childcare vouchers

Please note this role is shift based with 4 days, 4 days off, 4 nights on then 4 nights off

The Role
As a NOC Engineer working for a leading IT solutions company in the City you will be responsible for hands-on support, ensuring that technical faults and/or requests are responded to in a professional manner. You will also act as a 2nd line escalation point to the service desk team. You will be CCNA certified with at least 2 years hands on experience. You will be working in a growing team of 13 and will be involved in the following duties:

* Routine maintenance, monitoring and testing to maintain network integrity
* Troubleshooting and resolving 2nd line support escalations
* Managing network infrastructure and service provision components
* Pre-installation configuration and testing of equipment
* Provisioning, modifying and deleting customer services
* Dealing with 3rd parties when necessary to improve performance and fix any service outages or network problems
* Owning technical escalations, ensuring that the customer is being kept fully updated at all times
* Making use of network management tools to ensure the network and service availability is at its maximum

The Requirements
As a NOC Engineer it is essential you are CCNA certified with a minimum of 2 years working experience within a helpdesk / NOC environment ideally within ISP / Telecoms industry. You will have the following technical skills:

* Hands on experience with Cisco routers and switches and will ideally have some experience of Brocade (or Foundry routers)
* CCNA qualified with 18 months experience
* Routing (Layer 2 and Layer 3)
* Understanding of MPLS in particular VPLS and VLL
* Security - Understand firewall policies set-up including VPN set-up and troubleshooting (ideally Juniper )

Connectivity - Access technologies
* Ethernet
* Broadband (xSDL)

Server Based:
* Windows 2003/2008
* VMware vSphere (an advantage)
* Radius

Monitoring and Troubleshooting Tools
* Nimsoft (or any SNMP monitoring tool)
* Wireshark (capture and ability to do basic analysis)
* Ping, traceroute, etc
* Syslog
* Telnet and command line

Any experience with HP MSA or HP Lefthand Network is desirable although not essential.

You will ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have a professional attitude towards solving customers issues. You will enjoy talking to customers and show empathy towards them and will be a strong communicator both written and verbally. You will be confident, methodical with a keen eye for detail and have the ability to manage multiple cases.
