The Role
Working as a Linux Systems Administrator for a leading communications provider you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of hardware and software for an operations centre. You will have strong experience in Linux including troubleshooting and administration. Once the operations centre you are supporting is setup you will be integrated into the Systems Administration team as the subject matter expert. You will be working in a growing part of this business and will be involved in the following duties:
*Supporting the setup of an operations centre including supporting servers and storage
*Dealing with 3rd party application vendors
*System validation testing
*Installing and configuring software applications
*Working with the development team, writing and providing software for operations support
*Monitoring and automation
*Manage, troubleshoot and optimise servers and related storage/network components
*Ensuring systems and storage administration documents for design, configuration and procedures are documented
The Requirements
As a Linux Systems Administrator you will have previous experience in a systems administration or software support role and will be comfortable with Linux including troubleshooting and administration. You will have experience in monitoring and automation and will ideally have worked in a high availability environment. Any experience in Puppet or Chef is highly advantageous. Candidates with a solid Linux background with some networking exposure combined with satellite comms would be useful as would someone from a military background.
