The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced PHP Developer to join our client, a leading distance learning education provider, based in Coventry. Joining an experienced and expanding IT team you will play a key role in the development of distant learning portals. This already established and growing multi-national company is committed to the progression and development of it's employees.


Overview of the role

This is a permanent, full time role working at head office in Coventry. As an experienced, highly motivated and innovative PHP Developer, you will join the expanding IT Team of 10 developers. Working in an open plan office with an emphasis on a 'fun' environment, you will work alongside the Senior PHP Developer, harnessing bespoke PHP applications and services written in the Symfony 2 framework. You will be responsible for developing API's and integration within existing business systems, alongside migrating procedural code to object orientated design. In addition, the role will offer the opportunity to take the lead on upgrading the distant learning portal, Moodle 1.9 systems to the latest version 2 release.


As a PHP Developer it is essential that you have proven commercial experience in the following areas:

-Object Orientated PHP / MySQL
-Strong HTML and JQuery knowledge
-API development and business system integration
-SQL reporting
-Use of MVC frameworks
-Experience of customising and supporting Moodle, Git / SVN Version control and refactoring legacy code would be desirable, but not essential.
